when I first added my wifes eBIKE to our house insurance the insurance co ( AVIVA ) went into meltdown ....they hadn't a clue about Ebikes and tried to convince me ( sadly they lost ) that the bike was a motorcycle ./ and then they said it was on the same par as a mobility scooter ! ......and quoted me an extra £200 per year on my house insurance then after checking with their underwriter they refused to cover it. Several calls later over a period of approx 4 weeks and then finally accepted it was an ''electrically assisted PEDAL CYCLE ''but I had to submit a specification report from the manufacturer and the cost was an extra £12 per year. That was in 2015...and things have changed along with insurance companies knowledge of bikes.
Now I declare its an bike but its just covered under cycles ''over £2500'' each and as long as its kept in a locked garage at home while not in use and then locked to an immobile object when being used etc there is no stipulation as to type of lock.. I am still with Aviva and I believe the extra charge for expensive ( over £2500 per cycle ) cycles is around another £35 per year but that covers all my bikes including an S-WORKS Venge and a Colnago C64.

Prendas downsizing....
Just received an email from PRENDAS advising that they are to cease selling cycle clothing - jerseys / bibs etc - and will be concentrating on selling cycle caps and ''smaller cycling accessories ''
Will be sad to see them go.I have several of their SANTINI retro bibs and shorts .

Re: Halfords In-Store Bike build problems
I wouldn't touch a Halfords cycle...and certainly would not entertain a repair or service from them....I use them for the odd service part ( grease / mineral oil etc ) and have witnessed some absolute howlers from their ''experts in the cycle dept'' while waiting to pay for items....such as advising a prospective customer to purchase a ''general purpose saddle'' for her new Boardman road bike instead of getting a specific ladies saddle as their own brand ''general purpose '' was much wider / thicker padding than a ''normal saddle '' and she would notice the difference...to...a neighbour who purchased his daughter a bike ( 13yr old first MTB ) He brought to my house as he thought the brake weren't working properly ...The cables weren't connected properly and the handle bars were upside down !!!
When you see a spotty youth trying to fit a very expensive radio for a customer in the car park ...lots of swearing and brute force....you can see where the cycle experts base their skill levels on
steer clear and use your local bike shops ....

moderators out there now for .50BMG too, so fairly easy to condition their use on the ranges in order to reduce noise footprint.

I can't comprehend how you let your wheel become so ''tired''. bearing in mind you say that you clean and service it
last cleaned 3 rides ago - most of the crud was from the previous ride in S Gloucs 2days before. Hasn't rusted out at all, its Al, and under the crud there is a worn but still serviceable braking surface.
youve done well travelling from South Yorkshire * as per your profile ) to Gloucester for a ride out

I use an iPhone and stream it to my 65'' flat screen ( cheap one from eBay ) that I had in the garage during lockdown in the summer.

Re: The psychology behind using a turbo trainer
without my turbo trainer I think I would have gone mad during lockdowns....Not wanting to risk a fall or accident and end up in hospital during the lockdowns I spent hours in the garage or in the garden on ZWIFT....
Its also a great thing to have for those really bad weather days too. I have a TACX Vortex Smart version and I can't fault it.

No not at all. Better stopping than sintered pads and the rotors last longer ..however as we know resin pads wear out quicker .

Yes those elife bikes from qvc look like rubbish.
This would be a better option for about £1k if the brakes were hydraulic instead of Tektro Mechanical Disc Brakes with 180mm rotors -- could do with 200mm rotors too.
I have a KTM Ebike with 180 front and 160 rear...no braking issues ...use resin pads and cheap shimano RT66 Rotors....
