Only have the 1 road bike and that's always got mudguards on, so used all year round.
The trike tends to be a fair weather machine, or for when its snowing

Re: Nasty section B3013
I used it at the start of my January 100 mile ride, and last year for the same in June. On both occasions it would have been about 0630hrs on a Sunday morning, and no issues with traffic. There are nicer routes out that way when it's not a quiet weekend morning..

Re: Rock and Roll Beds
I put a RIB in mine, simply because my 2 kids would be strapped to it and it's crash tested. If it's just for sleeping on then lots out there, the T4 Forum is a great place for info (it covers all the T's....)

Re: Which mid price dynamo hub for disc brake?
I bought mine a few months back from Rose Bikes, this one
https://www.rosebikes.co.uk/rose-hybrid-front-wheel-28700c-dt-swiss-545d-disc-shimano-deore-dh-3d37-disc-hub-dynamo-2665584
And bought a centrelock to 6 bolt adaptor at the same time. Works for me, and cheap to boot.

Re: Six bolt adapters for centrelock hubs
I use the genuine Shimano ones, ordered from Rose Bikes. Less than £10 and work perfectly with no alignment change between my regular 6 bolt wheels and those with the adaptor. 6 bolt discs are much cheaper than centrelock too

Re: GPS-Garmin800 repairs?
You can get in touch with Garmin who will, as I understand it, repair the unit. Though I also gather that often they just send you out a refurbed one from stock. Maybe not the cheapest option mind....

Re: How far?
Depends on the bike, and time available. Generally I'm a 30 - 40 miles ride kind of guy when the family are home. But the joy of being a shift worker gives freedom in the week to go longer, so I'll always do at least a 63 miles and 100 miles ride each month.
ATM the recumbent rides are shorter, typically 20 miles or so, but sometimes far more enjoyable....

Re: Shimano M324 SPDs maintenance
Aside from a wipe down from time to time, oil the spring mechanism for the clips. Very little you can do with them otherwise. The tool you need to re-fit the bearings is £70 so cheaper to buy new ones.
FWIW I use the same on my commuter all year round, they are 11,500 miles old now with no issues.

Re: Keeping feet warm while inactive.
You could always do away with the SPD's and use heel straps instead, then you'll be free to wear whatever footwear you chose. Or tin foil over your toes, on top of the socks but inside the shoes, shiny side in.

Re: Pannier rack for Boardman disc brakes?
FWIW you don't need the disc specific version due to the location of the caliper. I have the non-disc version of the Super Tourist on my Boardman CX Team.
As @rotavator points out, spacers are available. Either that or do what I had on my Van Nic, longer bolts and fit both rack and guards to the same point

I have no idea about FTP etc etc, I simply ride for fun (and commuting). Still haven't found my 'bent legs but then I've only done 375 miles on the ICE Q so far. A recent acquisition on an Optima Lynx will help

Re: Ridewithgps No More
For the new foibles, it's still my go to planner. That said, using RwGPS and Veloviewer to plan rides around Explorer squares is annoying, so I have started using Strava's route planner with the Veloviewer add on via Chrome. Working OK so far

Re: Electric car charging to kill off segregated cycle lanes
It's 20 years away. In real terms the electrical network, particularly in London, is not designed for that kind of demand. The DNO's will need to be paid to upgrade, perhaps it would be a better use of public funds than the rather pointless smart meters...
