Re: Sliding off back of saddle.
Thanks for the further comments @MikeF and @CyberKnight. I do accept that the Marin might be a bit small. I still have very little stand-over clearance though so it seems that I either have to put up with a rather small bike or potentially mashed taters in the event of a clumsy dismount. I have been...

Re: Sliding off back of saddle.
Thank you so much for all the answers. These will take me some time to digest. Like I said, apologies for my ignorance and lack of knowledge. I'm genuinely trying to read up about all this stuff but it's a lot to take in at once for someone who doesn't yet know his bottom bracket from his ..err.. bo...

Sliding off back of saddle.
Please be gentle with me as this may be a stupid and/or badly-phrased question... I often feel like I'm sliding off the back of the saddle on my bike. I suspect it's a sizing issue as I have some ...ahem... embarrassing proportions. I'm a very short bloke (5 foot 6 inches) with comically short, stum...

Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself
I guess I've just never seen myself as someone at home with excercise fiends and healthy living types, hence the discomfort. Everyone I know with a bike just seems able to jump on the thing and dash of a quick 40, 50, 60k before breakfast! Meet some more relaxed riders. 40k is a nice half day ride ...

Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself
Omloop Welcome to the forum, you come across as feeling quite self conscious. Don't be,get on the bike and enjoy it :) Thanks @reohn2 Sorry for coming across as a bit of an idiot - can't believe I wrote so much. I guess I've just never seen myself as someone at home with excercise fiends and healthy...

Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself
Hello all. Not sure what to say really. I'm an old chap - 51 to be precise. I seem to love the idea of cycling rather than the actually doing of it and thought that joining in here might help galvanise me into some kind of two-wheeled activity. I've spent many recent evenings reading about cycling (...

Re: Porridge: love or hate?
I'm trying to lose some weight and, as a result, I've recently got into it (not literally, although I believe oats are good for the skin). Have moved from the relative luxury of Flavahan's rolled oats with milk and all manner of adjuncts (banana, peanut butter, cinnamon, berries) to the puritanical ...
