Re: 2020 Audax LeJog

Man you need to take it easy! Well, if I am going to ride hundreds of miles in some number of days there is no point me going to the vast expense of getting to the start if I haven't made the effort to at least be prepared to actually accomplish the task when I get there. :P For me, to start any ri...

Re: 2020 Audax LeJog

In my training programme I've ridden 5 - 200's this year and plan a back-to-back pair of them this Easter weekend. Next will be a 300 then a pair of them back-to-back. Since neither LEL nor the Inverness 1200 in July require a qualifying SR, riding two 300's back to back should be enough to be sure ...

Re: 2020 Audax LeJog

Entry fee: £166.00. Argh!!!!

True about the overall costs of the thing. Maybe one of those 'nice to do, but...' challenges.

And LEL might be a bit more relaxed.

Re: Mick F route fast but safe.

Another thought to overcome/beat the whole getting to and from issue, is to do the think in halves. The Lake District seems to be about halfway and this is an area with lots of transportation options. So, starting of from say Kendall/Penrith location (due west of Middlesborough (Ugh!)) ride north to...

Re: 2020 Audax LeJog

S2L,

Can you provide me with a link? I can't seem to get into it. I'd like to have a look at the route if they are showing it this early.

Thanks.

BigJim,

It looks as if the bag is intended as a cover rather than a transport item, so well done for making it work.

Re: Mick F route fast but safe.

I looked at Hertz rental cars from Wick to Leeds airport, it comes out at about 130 pounds. Pretty pricey.

Re: Park Chain Cyclone Cleaner

What about white spirit in it?

I use washing up liquid/water mix in mine and rinse it all off afterwards.

Re: Bike bag light enough and small enough to carry on tour.

Actually, looking further into the dogsbody I find the dimensions are larger than my bike box. The bike box is 48" x 31" x 11" whereas the dogsbody is 68" x 32" x the width of the bike, so much larger and therefore more expensive to 'check in' than the bike box. And of cours...

Re: Bike bag light enough and small enough to carry on tour.

which in turn doesn't lend itself to careful handling. That's an issue with the main airport I use, throwing luggage around seems to be the name of the game for those clowns. I like the 'Dogsbody' and may consider getting one for my trip to the UK for LeJog later this summer. I have a standard bike...

I've started to route this on RWGPS based on the list, will post when done for scrutiny by the experts and will incorporate suggested modifications.

Congrats and have a great ride. Don't forget me if you do convert the route to a cue sheet. :D
