Re: How to brake discs Vs Rims

Modulation is the key, if you yank the front lever back to the bars you are gonna come a cropper especially on disc brakes. If you have to brake hard use plenty of rear brake a fraction before the front.

Re: Car lamps : one-eyed monster and other outrages

The rise in broken lights is inversely proportionate to the number of police.

Re: Will this calliper /lever combination work?

Thanks Brucey, I see I can also get the Tektro 539 for similar money, would they be much better in your opinion?
Thanks for the time taken.

Re: Will this calliper /lever combination work?

Thanks Brucey. The cables are shimano as is the outer. No lube used. Would you say these are short drop callipers looking at the picture? These are my only rim brakes, all the other bikes are on discs so my experience is limited. If they are short drop would long drop have the adjustable range to fi...

Will this calliper /lever combination work?

Hi, I have a single speed with appalling braking. I have changed all cables, put serious stop pads on, cleaned the rims too within an inch of their life but still rubbish. It has bull bars with ITM levers that plug into the bar ends and Tektro callipers. DSC_0484.JPG Would these levers work with a s...

Bad idea to put something in a fairly flammable fabric which can catch fire if damaged in a fall IMO. It'll probably never happen but why risk it when bike mounts are cheap?

To be fair that is always happening.

Re: Do I need a new cassette?

There is an often quoted rule of thumb that is 3 chains to 1 cassette.

Re: Do I need a new cassette?

It's worth nothing you cannot really tell the condition of a cassette by looking at it like a chainset.

Re: Sram Derailleur compatibility.

Brucey It is a 10 speed cassette so I am replacing a 10 speed mech.

Mud plugger, mine is a 2014 Montpellier, the components are sram via GT. A groupset they only used for a couple of years.

Re: Rear mech hanger issues

First things first, get back in touch with the supplier and tell them they've sent the wrong one.

Sram Derailleur compatibility.

I need to replace my sram derailleur on the Montpellier. It has flat bar therefore trigger shifters. I have looked at the sram apex derailleur but this is a road mech. Both it and the mech it is replacing use sram exact actuation which gives a 1:1 pull ratio. Is it likely to work here or will I need...

Re: Enter thread from last post you read.

Hi, is there a way to go into a thread and pick up where you left off. It seems the new posts button just shows posts new to everyone, not tailored to my browsing progress. I think the answer yo your question is "No." "Unread posts" brings up threads on which there is at least o...

Re: Enter thread from last post you read.

The 'new posts' will show you posts that are new to you, only if you are logged in. I've picked a couple of threads, and scrolled through to half way down page 2. When I go back into them I am at page 1 post 1 again. Not picking up where I left off. This is both using and not using the new post but...
