Re: Where were you in '73

We were already in Paris by '73. We had a flat in a high-rise about 10k south of Orly on the edge of a plateau overlooking the Seine valley. To the north we could just see the Eiffel Tower on clear days, and we could watch but not hear the planes approaching to land. On the south we had a balcony f...

Re: Tamar Bridge

Does anyone know if the Tamar bridge is open to cyclists yet, a google search says yes but I don't trust anything I read on the internet. Plan on riding in the dark lands next week. Why are you asking here then? I am asking here as I trust posters here. several will or will not have been able to cr...

Re: Underwear, shorts or bib?

If you are only going to be riding for an hour or two at a time you need ask yourself if you really need padded undershorts or bib shorts or anything cycling specific.
Maybe wait until you are building up to half day or longer rides before you worry about cycling specific shorts.

I've just got a pair of these https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073Y57TQB. They have a bit more padding in that area

Re: Best safety bike cameras

How will a camera stop cars passing closely? That's a good question. But it's not the question the original poster is asking. He doesn't mention "cars passing closely". The phrase used is "near misses", which could mean any sort of near collision. Neither does anybody else sugge...

Re: How long before Chelmsford council will remove a bicycle parked in one place?

Hiya, My bike was securely locked up in the designated cycle storage area opposite Chelmsford Train station for just over a month, it has disappeared & I've filed it as a theft with Essex Police, but I'm wondering whether it could have been officially removed for sitting there for just over a m...

Re: Where were you in '73

I was 12 in 1973. More interested in football than cycling and naturally, living in North Herts, I was a Man United fan. I saw them relegated to the second division and get beaten 5-0 by Crystal Palace. There's not many people who can say that. I also saw Bobby Charlton's last game for United, a 1-0...

Re: Longer term cycle touring in Europe after 2020

Mrs Whoof rode from the southern most point of Spain to the tip of Norway. Her insurance was for a year and allowed for the total number of days but there was a limit on number of consecutive days. The solution was 'two' tours. Spain to northern France then a ferry back to the UK for a week followe...

Re: Cycling on The Cheap (Your Experiences to Inclusive Affordable Everyday Transport)

If cycling is your main form of transport then £1000 on a bike isn't much to spend compared with what people spend on cars

Where are you planning to ride? Is a mountain bike really what you need or would a hybrid be better?

Re: Punch, drift, chisel set for bicycle use. Maybe hammers too

I have a set of punches similar to this https://www.ebay.co.uk/c/23018590360 and a ball-peen hammer that I have used for bike maintenance at some point, but I don't think I have ever used a chisel on a bike.
