Re: SPA Cycles Harrogate

Not if the person taking the phone call just enters all details into their online ordering system. The retailer's costs are still higher, because that person is being paid for their time entering the information. Slightly higher but not significantly so. If they don't want people phoning why is the...

Re: Most Central Point

Draw a line from the most northerly point to the most southerly point and one from the most westerly to the most easterly point and the call the point they cross the centre.

This assumes they will cross and the point will be on land.

Re: Be Seen lights

Helmet lights are... illegal on the highway... I suspect that we're entering the evidence-free zone again, but NB the difference between additional lights on helmets once you have the statutory lights fitted and helmet lights without those. A light fitted that is above 1500mm is not legal according...

Re: How wide is a bike?

I can’t help thinking that wording of the original post is somehow wrong. I’ve voted for 1.0 metre as that’s enough of a gap for me and my bike to get through and the next lower value (0.5 metres) is almost certainly not. However I recon a motorist should aim to allow more than that width, aiming t...

Have a look at this video to ensure you are following the correct procedure to adjust the derailleur https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkZxPIZ1ngY and this one to work out whether or not the hanger is bent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXfvW0L3iLM

FerociousDog wrote:Is the question “how wide is a bike” or “how wide should a bike be persieved to be”?
I think the OP has a point to make which will become apparent when the poll ends?

Or even "how much space should a motor vehicle leave when passing a bike?"

Re: How wide is a bike?

My vote, as the poll originator, would be 2.5 to 3m depending on whether or not the bike is passing parked cars. The question was "how wide is a bike?" not "how wide is a van or lorry?" and the width of a bike doesn't change when it passes a parked car. I really don't understand...

Re: Essential stuff to have in your camping kit

If I'm away on a bike holiday I don't want to be honing my culinary skills all day long. I'll either eat out or eat cheap at the campsite or whatever facility I've landed at. Carrying food around with me ? Not for me. I'm with you. I carry coffee making kit and emergency supplies in case I can't fi...

Search for Nomad's Trails on YouTube. Their channel is a video blog of their 10 year cycle trip around the world. They are going down the west side of Africa but are stuck in Gambia at the moment because of Covid-19
