Re: My 10 day JOGLE route

Day 4. No need to go round the houses in Gretna. Go straight through Gretna then right under the A75 followed by left onto the B7076. Gretna to Carlisle you don't need to go via Rockclffe. An alternative is to stay on the road that runs parallel to the M6. Brings you into Carlisle on the A7. Admitte...

Re: Cyclist dismount?

Often the contractors who provide and set out the barriers are different to the contractors who do the work. This means the barriers/cones are set out way before the work starts and long after the work has finished.

Re: Why has the nozzle on my Camelbak bottle turned pink?

Well, that's one question answered out of three, plus a nice softening from "not a good idea if I want to stay alive" to "proceed with caution". Thank you.

I'm still trying to make sense of the three questions.

OP were you using the recumbent used as your Cyclechat avatar?

Re: Cycling on a fast dual carriageway.

Was is the A1 or A1(M)? This is the critical question to determine if you should've been on the road or not. Even if that section didn't have motorway status it's pretty foolhardy to expect to be able to join traffic moving at motorway speeds. You posted the same query on Cyclechat only there you m...

Re: Ankle Replacement recovery

I'm not sure what your expectations are regarding full blown touring but I would have thought it a bit unrealistic to by able to be back to what you were doing before with no consequences (I speak having just had a knee replacement). The advice you get from the physio about using any kind of static ...

Re: Surrey Police and videos

I can't see anything in those clips that would be formally pursuable. All vehicles passed quite cautiously. They possibly could have given a bit more room and not pulled in so soon but the cyclist had space to move closer to the kerb if absolutely necessary for safety. The cyclist didn't appear to ...

Nothing to stop you parking at JOG if it's free and sailing either from Gills Bay or Scrabser.

Re: Touring Bike Thoughts and Source

Hello Guy and gal looking to replace existing bikes that are two big. We want to try before buying. Specs to include ability to take panniers, disc brakes, steel frame, drops, low gears for alpine climbs. Looking at Ridgeback Panorama and Trek, any other thoughts? Live in Scotland. Unable to find a...
