Re: LEJOG Route setting off 6th May.

How are you getting on, Alan? I think I saw you pulling out of LE just as we arrived, so didn't get to say hello! Hope the roads and the weather are being as kind to you as they are for me. We're up in Pitlochry now, and about to hit the hills again.

Re: LEJOG Route setting off 6th May.

It certainly is - aargh! Tandem passed it's health check at the bike shop this morning though, so I'm good to ride. The long range Met Office forecast is looking cautiously optimistic for us, Alan, fingers crossed...

Re: End-To-End Tandemonium

Thank you - that's very useful to know! I may not have time to add it to the online map before I leave, but I'll make up a new gpx before I ride it.

Re: LEJOG Route setting off 6th May.

Hi Mick, was that recommendation aimed at Alan, or me? If me, then thank you! I've been lurking around here for a while and have ardently read your sage advice, but sadly the delights of Wadebridge and Okehampton aren't going to work for me. I'm riding to support Samaritans, and I've said I'll call ...

Re: End-To-End Tandemonium

I bought the tandem with the need for flexibility in mind - I've tried it with stokers ranging from 5'1" through to 6'2" so far! The 6'2" chap was just about ok, but not ideal - he did clip his knees on the stoker bars once or twice when we went over bumps, complete with a lot of swea...

Re: LEJOG Route setting off 6th May.

I do, though the finer details may change once I get more local advice from each day's stoker riding with me on the tandem. I know my day one stokers think it should be fine to stick on the A30 as far as Hayle rather than peeling off it into Newlyn, since it should be quiet enough on a Sunday. And s...

Re: If you do it in stages is it proper LeJog....!?

I resigned myself long ago to not riding a 'proper' LEJOG. But I'm going to have great fun riding a highly improper one! :D

Re: End-To-End Tandemonium

Oh yes indeed. Mind you, I'd ridden it solo through town four or five times (after dropping my stoker home at the end of a ride) before I got the inevitable "she's fallen off the back"

Re: End-To-End Tandemonium

I think I'm going to keep a tally of how many times between LE and JOG I hear the same joke about him/her on the back not peddling.

Re: LEJOG Route setting off 6th May.

Good for you Alan! I'm not quite strolling it, but taking four weeks so I'm certainly closer to that than the fit sporty types who steam up in less than a week somehow. And I'd have taken longer if I could have got more time off work. I'm LE to Truro on day one, then Truro to Liskeard on day two.

End-To-End Tandemonium

I've been lurking on here sporadically for quite a while, and just wanted to say thanks to all the previous posters who I've pinched tips and route ideas from - particularly Mick F! I'd intended to register sooner than I have, and post my route to see if anyone had more helpful advice... but the pac...

Re: LEJOG Route setting off 6th May.

I'm also setting off from LE on the 6th - maybe I'll see you there! I'll be the short fat woman who hasn't yet quite got the hang of the tandem.. :D
