Re: Irish tour - route advice?
I've not done it myself (I would really love to!!) but I did read about a good route here, just around Kerry (SW Ireland!) It's only c.180km so you could definitely incorporate it into some of the more ambitious routes posted above! http://bit.ly/2KqDxsq

Re: South Downs Way - Petersfield - Amberley - Hassocks
I've always wanted to do this route! The scenery sounds stunning, and you can out some proper hard yards in as well - best of both worlds. I'm planning on using the GPX file I got from here - its an interesting blog post and a solid route. Anyone got any recommendations for alterations to the route?!

Re: The Via Domitia
This would be a fantastic route, I reckon. Definite scope to venture slightly off the Via Domitia, and explore nearby Avignon or even the beautiful National Park where the Rhone meets the Med. I read a fascinating blog post about a couple's 400km cycle just near here. And, to follow on from your inspiration from Mary Beard's Civilisation, they said one of the highlights was the Roman ruins! http://bit.ly/2r95XhL

Sore Heel when riding again after 2 months off the bike
Hi all,
I used to cycle a fair bit. Had a chunk of time off due to work, and when I jumped back on and hit a sizeable (400 miles over 5 days) tour, I developed really bad pains in the heel of my right foot as well as swelling on the inside of the patella. My bike size hadn't changed, but I think maybe the angle of my cleats had? Has anyone else had this problem?
Cheers,
Sam

Re: Numb hands
I had this problem when I cycled across India. I put it down to the unforgiving frame of my cyclocross, but since getting back on my road bike in the UK (which I have no problems on), I think it was actually because the bike was a little too long for me, and I was adopting the wrong position on the handlebars. My advice is to constantly try new things, that way you'll isolate the problem!!

Re: Is cycling the best physiotherapy?
I found cycling was a really great way to ease back from a hamstring injury. Most of all because you control the intensity of the input. However, a few friends have noted that because with cycling you end up miles from home, you can get caught in the trap of trying some gentle rehab which causes a flare up - and then you've got an hour on the bike to get home, which makes it considerably worse!
