Re: Spa Audax build photos

Very nice, looks like a proper bike.
I'd like the adjustability of a quill stem.

Re: Could you do better than this on a Chopper?

When I was a kid my mate had a 5 speed Raleigh Chopper Sprint with drop handlebars.
That was really cool :D

Re: Can modern Sturmey NIG* AW 3 speeds be de-NIG-ed? (*NoIntermediateGear)

Is your aim to have a NIG AW3 minus the actuator plate that doesn't risk damage on back peddling Brucey? If so I can see the gain as the actuator plate reportedly breaks easily.

Re: Bar end friction shifters

I see Shimano do some drop handlebar mount shifters which look like they may be a better option as you can change while riding on the tops of the drops.
Anyone used them?

Re: Bar end friction shifters

I've only used friction shifters with 5 & 6 speed where they worked fine, 9 speed may be awkward.

Re: Barry Barron frames

Bit more info. Barron used to build steel frames, 531 and 753 for the time trial and racing scene around here, I know of 3 (my mates still have them) locally. They build tandems and trikes too for racing, I think Barry designed a kind of differential for trikes.

Re: Risks of buying old alloy-framed road bikes ( 15 years+ )

Some bikes have alloy forks now
I'm sure they're ok......but it goes against all the reasons for not having alloy forks.

Re: Sunree Head Leds.

Cold weather kills led head torches. I have had a few attached to my cycle helmet, sub zero cycling temp kills them.

Re: Scotland by bike summer 2020 - travelmate wanted

I cycle toured in Scotland in May/June. We soon learned to pitch the tent high up enough, away from water and in the wind.....spray deodorant kills any midges in your tent.
