Re: Devon C2C options

I'd rather park on a residential road than a car park anytime. Once the light goes, a car park seems the sort of place undesirables would target. And if they see a car there for a couple of nights....

Or maybe the reason my car hasn't been touched is that it just isn't good enough.

Re: Devon C2C options

PS Another reason the Park and Ride is usually full, is that the majority of staff at the massive Derriford Hospital use it as it's a free carpark. The staff have to pay to park at the hospital, so it's easy to car share, walk, or get the bus ............... and save a fortune at the same time. Not...

Re: Devon C2C options

. Spent the first night at campsite at East Yarde, very small, delightful café and some nights is also a restaurant and well worth going to – if it’s still open. Next night we stopped at campsite in Plymouth then returned the same way, stopping at East Yarde again. Last time I looked East Yarde had...

Re: Please help solve a route planning dispute for family trip in France

No idea about Loire. Looks flat from what I have seen. If your family don't like hills, I wouldn't do Roscoff to Morlaix as suggested above. It has hills. Also, my family didn't rate the off road stuff down to Carhaix much. You can't see much as the track us densely wooded and the surface gets very ...

Re: Good website

I've also been following Iohan in YouTube. He's mad as a box of frogs but his positive view is truly inspiring. Plus he has developed into an amazing cameraman and his vid so are things of beauty.

If it's only for a bit of shopping then go cheap and heavy.

Re: what bottle cage for underside of down tube on a world tour?

I don't know anything about the two you mentio. I have this: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/bottles-cages/alloy-xl-bottle-cage/ It does the job. My problem was that it won't fit on the down tube. It has to go on the seat tube to stop it interfering with the front wheel. Have you checked with a short ca...

Re: Which way to London?

[quote="Paulatic"]A starting point might be to reverse this route then refine it. :) Which bits didn’t you like and how could it be made shorter?[\quote] Wow, you've got a memory to dig that out. I'm just wondering if there is something better than reversing it. I sometimes find that the w...

Re: Which way to London?

Tinpoflowers I hope you didn't type all that :D

I'm struggling to make out the actual place you went through. Any chance of a list or link so to gpx file?

Many thanks

I know it's a long way but I'm thinking of doing it as a fundraiser. Might need to steal a younger man's legs.

Which way to London?

Thinking of a ride over two days, Exeter to London, on road bikes with lightweight overnighting. Two days. Which way would you go? Are the off road sections road bike rideable?

Re: Solar panel

Thanks for all the info. I would prefer a hub dynamo but the pricing of SON means it's out of the question. Are the Shimano ones any good? I've heard mixed opinions.

Re: Solar panel

Some depressing data. However, I do need something. It's all very well having a battery pack but the large capacity ones take forever to charge so sitting at a campsite while it does seems a bit tedious. Any other suggestions?
