Re: Death by Dangerous Cycling
I am not sure about that I got insurance because If I cause an Accident and have no insurance I know it is one of the things that pisses off motorists. So its just some ammunition I can take away from them. But also it covers my bike and accessories against loss and theft up to 500 quid and also I have £1million worth of public liability insurance. I am not saying it should be mandatory cos then the price will rise from £6 to silly numbers that motorists have to pay. The reason its so cheap is because it isn't mandatory

Re: Newbie! Looking for advice
Just be careful riding on loose gravel I find it can handle it find but you need to slow down as it becomes slidy under braking especially if you turning I brake before turning and it still slid. I managed to stay on but it was a bit slidy so be careful

A few lorries had been brought there by a lorry accident reduction organisation. They were trying to educate cyclists that lorries have blind spots where cyclists can just not be seen. To prove the point they had cardboard cut outs of cyclists and pedestrians in front and to the sides of the truck. When in the cab of the lorry these could not be seen. So I had to very much agree with these lorry drivers that they have blinds spots. This web site shows the issue:
https://wrightstart.co.uk/driving-safet ... lind-spots
I don't care what 'blind spots' you claim to have from the cab. It is your responsibility to manoeuvre your vehicle safely on the road. If you need to have someone walking alongside you to tell you whether or not it is safe, or a man with a red flag in front of you then so be it.
If you need better mirrors and/or cameras to see what is around you then you need to have those installed.
I would argue this is the wrong attitude if you know that a big lorry has a blind spot then you shouldn't cycle in the blind spots simple really health and safety is EVERYONES responsibility especially in dangerous places like roads. Its a very arrogant view point really Yes it is the driver responsibility to manoeuvre it safely and he is if your in his blind spot then your just simply not helping the situation.

Greeting I am new ( dunno where to put this)
Greetings I am new I am 30 years old and have just got my first road bike its a Triban 500 and its great fun to ride before that I always had the cheapest bike I could find regardless. I got this one because I needed a good bike that could cope with the miles for when I get my deliveroo job
I have however, taken rather a fancy to spending all day just riding around willy nilly to nowhere in particular and rather enjoy it

Syncope and biking
Hey guys I am new I have just recently started cycling and on saturday I collapsed in Tesco. The hospital is saying it is because I have started cycling which is odd cos I don't ride fast maybe 12 mph average and I don't go for miles and miles only about 20 miles a day. Its just made me a bit apprehensive about going on the roads again. What is I faint while riding my bike. Eeeeeeepp
