Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Interesting tweet from. Caroline Lucas MP in which she obawrv s that Parliament had more time to discuss Wild Animals in Circuses Welfare Act which apparently affects 19 animals than a life changing act which affects 65million people.

Says it all.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I always find it amusing that people like Corbyn (and Tony Benn) thought the EU a capitalist conspiracy. People like Johnson -and Trump - think it a socialist conspiracy. Meanwhile we have always: Set our taxes Decided on our own welfare/pensions/health Decided our own criminal justice and prisons S...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

A reminder: most cases which come before the ECHR are Russia based. Russia, is, of course, a member. I do believe that when someone throws in he word "traitor" they should define it. I won't hold my breath, though. In the same way that I won't hold my breath waiting to learn which laws are...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Can someone please enlighten me on what it is the DUP want? As far as I can tell they seem to want a 'hard Brexit' i.e. leaving the customs union AND no hard border with Eire - which seems impossible, or did I miss something obvious? Coming to you guys because I can't seem to find a clear answer an...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

The country is more or less evenly divided. Roughly half want to leave and half want to remain. The latter is possibly more than half. Parliament, which we elected, is more or less the same. The opposition do not have a duty to support the government whatever it does but rather to challenge what it...

Re: any thoughts ?

I use train as much as possible. Up to a couple of years ago I was taking over 200 flights a year, will do less than 50 this year. Seems a lot, care to explain why? I think one might want to meet the people once, could then upgrade to video conferencing Some colleagues of mine went to China, glad I...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Reasons for the continuing rejection of Johnson's deal are that it does not formally protect either workers rights or the environment. All the Govenment reassurances, no matter how loudly and frequently voiced, are worthless. This is simply because the Government is simultaneously saying that it wil...

Perhaps Al will share with us his knowledge of those laws we don't make. Is it taxation, healthcare? Social security? Military size or spending? Education? Whether our infrastructure, phones, rail, power should be public or private?

Re: any thoughts ?

Is flying by passenger jet about to become the new fur coat of obscenity? well I posted this in 2007, some 12 years ago. It's possibly more relevant now. And maybe more people will be giving the topic due consideration ? I hope so. Its estimated that this year there will be between 39 million and 4...

Hi Folk :) , So if the group of Balkan countries get the right to join the E.U. that will make that august body a better club to belong to? With more begging bowl states surely the problems posed to the nett contribution countries will be that much greater, which with so few members paying the true...

Edit.
Dunno how it can be done right through the thread. Independence and Scottish done at the OP.

I can bear to read the thread now! Thanks.
