Re: TV licensing...

This guardian reader has many problems with the BBC especially over the coverage of the last election. But I still want a public service broadcaster with enough money to be able to ignore pressure from either advertisers or government.

Re: Amazon

You’re not a daft person and therefore must know there is a very large difference in Chinese made products from the cheap tatt to high end stuff made under proper controls! Of course. But Farage et Al were condemning Chinese goods per se, regardless of quality. His issue was not about quality: I as...

Re: Amazon

Talking of Apple products, it has been interesting seeing people - including very loudly a Mr Farage - getting all worked up about buying PPE stuff from China. They make their post on their iPhone, which is, of course , made in China. Mr Farage not long ago claimed that once we'd left the EU we cou...

Re: Panic buying, hoarding

Early morning trip to M and S. Argos was also open, with the usual staff smoker huddle at the door.

Mrs Ojw went into M and S to do the shop. Just 6 people there.

I had a thought that even the cars in the car park were socially distancing.

Re: Cycling as an activity during the Covid 19 outbreak

Isn't Lycra usually a small proportion of the material used to give it elasticity ? It's found in many everyday garments not just sports clothing. Some of my cycling tops are 100% polyester and some of them have elastane. I suppose polyester lout or elastane lout doesn't trip off the tongue so well...

The Lycra thing is surely one for the style police, not the normal police.

Re: Cycling as an activity during the Covid 19 outbreak

I must say I only get friendliness and cooperation, apart from the car full of youths who dumped their takeaway rubbish. I assume they do that at other times.

Re: The cops get their knuckles rapped

Just saw a car full of young people slowly drive past, stop, and throw rubbish - it looked like takeaway stuff - out onto the Green. I can't of course tell if they were a family unit or mates but I wish the pollls had seen them.

.. Until every single member of the Green Party is perfect the rest of us need do nothing! :? What a queer statement Is that sarcasm or humour, or what please? Besides, ms l is the only Member of the green party, if she behaved in an exemplary way she could win a lot of 'respect', if she willing to...

Re: Covid19 - How far should we cycle each day?

My wife was a French and German teacher. We visited the continent most years which was quite important in her work. I haven't flown there for leisure since the 1980s. The last time we drove was in about 1996. We found the train from our local station worked well. We haven't been to France since I th...
