Thank you so much for posting the link to Tesco customer services. The programme reminded me why we do not shop there and the link has enabled me to tell them why and how much they are missing out on every week because of their failure to require higher minimum satndards of animal welfare and to sup...

Done ! My husband and 2 children are cycle touring in the Hebrides as we speak and got there by train (and ferry!). What a hassle that was to book - they ended up with over 50 (!) separate tickets, and may yet get stranded in Birmingham as London Midland do not take cycle reservations - carriage of ...

Hi John, Sorry to hear about you accident it must have been very shocking. Make sure you use a solicitor, and preferrably one with a specific interest in cycling accidents. They should handle this on a no win no fee deal and you are much more likely to get a fair outcome more quickly. Make sure you ...

Thanks everyone - much appreciated. The round trip to riding lessons went well too but that is very local - 15 mins and skull cap in the pannier. Unfortunately school has not bought into the cycling culture, something my husband - a teacher there - is trying to change. They do not run a bike to work...

Poor you. I answer as a mum rather than a long distant cyclist. I note that other respondents have had success with nappy rash creams. By far the best nappy cream is conotrane - widely available from pharmacies. It is very much 'cleaner' to use than other nappy creams and is also marketed as being s...

Will, Thanks very much for this - they have booked a hostel on Tiree. The information on the change of trains in Glasgow and accommodation on Uist is really helpful. Do you think a capable 7 year old will manage ok cycling on the islands ? How easy were the ferries ? Should they book any of those in...

Oban, Tiree and Barra in July
My intrepid husband and 2 children (11 and 7) are planning a cycle touring trip around the Oban area and then over to Tiree, Barra and possibly the Uists. After something of a nightmare (Virgin trains being hopeless until I found Fiona in customer services) of booking the 3 of them and 3 bikes on 3 ...

Some of us do try. My husband and 2 children (6 and 11) cycle a round trip of 22 miles to school (he teaches there and hopefully they learn !) on a Thorn me 'n' u 2 triple. In the better weather they hope to cycle 3 or 4 times a week. they are quite a local talking point - but still get abuse from c...
