Re: Trek top fuel 8 v trek slash 8 v trance 2

I've got a Slash 9.8. I love it for the steep gnarl in South Wales. I've had a go on a Top Fuel and found it too race-orientated (too steep, not enough travel) for general trail riding The Slash is a enduro monster and the Top Fuel is a racing snake. I'm curious why you're looking at bikes at the ex...

To be honest, I'd dismissed you as a serious rider once you'd quoted Thorn as some sort of world authority on modern mountain bike design.

Re: Should I just stick with 26" wheels?

I've got 2 29ers - a long travel full sus and a rigid singlespeed. The 29ers are significantly faster up and down the mountain compared to my old 26" bikes, and the idea they are somehow less 'agile' or 'nimble' is just plain nonsense. I would not contemplate going back to a 26" wheeled bi...

Dwi'n dod Cearfyrddin, gwiboi - felly dwi'n 'get' Cymru.

You are defending antisocial tightwads who are happy to enjoy a facility but can't be bothered to make a reasonable and nominal contribution to that facility's upkeep.

Re: Coed Y Brenin

To summarise, you had an amazing day's fun for you and all the family but couldn't bring yourself pay for parking.

That's £5 less for Natural Resources Wales to reinvest in the facilities.

Cheers. Well done you.

One that interests me is the Genesis Fortitude Adventure, which uses relatively short rigid forks apparently. http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/frames/fortitude-adventure/fortitude-adventure Why mess about? Get a Fortitude. I've got a singlespeed - it's magic. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8152/7...

I'd recommend Middleburn chainrings. I replaced my XT rings with Middleburns a year ago. They're great value.

Re: Updating an old steel mountainbike

I'm amazed by the number of people claiming v-brakes are as good as disc brakes. Im not claiming that and I used them (both) daily, but lets get back to the original post mtmf1 has a old Kona which cant take discs at present, what I was saying is please dont fit disc mounts to it instead look aroun...

Re: Genesis Altitude 20

I've got a ti Latitude (they changed the name from Altitude this year). I broke my original ti frame, and Genesis gave me a 853 frame to ride while the 2011 ti frames were unavailable - about 9 months. The 853 is an excellent bike. It looks like the equivalent bike this year is £1,600. Bottom line -...

Hats off to anyone getting a fully laden bike up that. I did it on a sportif last year and it was brutal.

Re: Brecon Beacons

Hello, my friend and I want to do a pretty tough two-day tour, about 90 miles a day, constantly hitting big hills coming from north Bristol in the Brecon Beacons to help prepare for lejog this coming summer. Does anyone have any ideas about the best hills and (as we also want to enjoy it) most remo...
