Even better on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juvfEZsZqUY, you may not like Anthony Scaramucchi (and to honest there's not much to like) but his analysis of Donald Trump is impressive. Well worth a watch.
Yes, many of us remember his ‘road to Damascus’ conversion to Trump hatred, shortly after he sacked him…

Scaramucci is living proof that a man will say or do almost anything to be on TV (and get his wife back…)

Trump wasn't "cleared, by a court, of rape allegations". E. Jean Carroll v. Donald J. Trump wasn't a criminal case and he wasn't charged with rape. It was a civil action for defamation (followed by one for battery).

Again, the jury said he didn’t rape anyone, applying the relevant legal definition used in that jurisdiction. Even the frequently dementedly left wing guardian accepted that amounted to them ‘clearing’ him of rape allegation https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... al-verdict

As for the judge claiming otherwise and attempting to apply their own definition, I say that, like so many other TDS sufferers, anyone attempting to pervert language to fit their world view deserves the same fate as Humpty Dumpty in Alice in Wonderland

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

Because it's The USA. And the media and the power of the Russian propaganda machine will be supporting him, by means largely foul.
I) Trump was cleared, by a court, of rape allegations
2) Bill Clinton, George Bush and Joe Biden have all had accusations, backed by sworn witness testimony, of rape and myriad other sexual offences made against them, amongst numerous other allegations of financial impropriety & corruption.

Strangely people don’t seem particularly bothered about any of them. Classic orange man bad.

Thanks - it would be good to know whether it was ever in public use in the past. There’s some discreet parts of the statutory guidance on conservation, access and recreation duties under the water industries act 1991 that might give an opportunity to challenge the current situation, so I’m trying to do a little groundwork…

Hampton Loade water treatment works bridge

Does anyone know much about the river Severn bridge at Hampton Loade water treatment works (owned by south staffs water authority) and able to fill me in on the background regards any history of cycle/pedestrian access over this bridge?

Cheers

There's quite a few things that have been fine for ages but creak when put to significantly more use (e.g., just about every road that's ever been upgraded as traffic flows increase).

Pete.
I don’t think it’s necessarily just to do with volume either - the problem is perhaps a bit of a magic mix of faster, quieter and more frequent. - in my experience resurfacing of rural paths with tarmac is a really key issue here, particularly where little or no thought is given to the established user base (including canals & disused railway lines) and I don’t think enough work has been done on how that impacts on other users - particularly those with dogs and those with vision &/or hearing difficulties.

One could question whether the answer to the roads being unsafe is really to tarmac more of the countryside, or begin to tackle e problem at source…

Re: Views on shared-use paths

And therein lies the problem with the NCN, it is neither man nor beast, unable to identify its primary purpose as a transport (utility & commuting) network or a leisure & recreation network. Thus it tries to appeal to both, leaving everyone dissatisfied.

The fact is that many of the sections of traffic free route, the primary function (fir 22 hours a day, at least) dogwalking/emptying - so the focus on cycle infrastructure (and indeed, demands for resurfacing etc. in order to promote commuting/utility cycling is often woefully misguided and not one of catering equally to all users.

As for ‘conflict’. We’ve got somewhere in the region of 25-30,000 miles of shared use routes that have run for decades without significant problems… it only seems to become a problem when we try and push commuters on to them.

Re: Views on shared-use paths

There are some com0lex issues with the MK redways network. Their legal status is, ahem, ‘complex’, and some potential minefields lie there (eg enforceability of planning conditions etc). One of the interesting things is that the ROW team have deliberately avoided the Bridleway network being subsumed and resurfaced in a way that would be detrimental to equestrian users.

The broad point you make though, that they have been viewed, from the outset, as genuine multi-user paths rather than cycle infrastructure is a good one - if you design for one user you risk deterring others, and more research really does need to go into the effect of different motivations/speeds of cyclists on other users on mixed-use paths (eg commuters tend to travel faster, and as you mention e-bikes are a potential issue there.

What’s interesting is that LTN 1/20 is pretty negative regards shared use, to the point that the redways network would be difficult to fund under current rules… that seems like a mistake to me.

That surprises me - I would have assumed any event being held on parliamentary premises would be ultra vires for police prosecution under BoR (incidentally, I don’t think the crown property issue regards no 10 was ever fully settled)

No apology and I haven't seen that those arrested are taking action.

Jonathan
What do you think are the grounds for an apology? The legal test for arrest is suspicion, not whether prosecution follows - indeed, some of them appear to have been arrested to prevent a breach of the peace, a common-law arrest power (with about a thousand years history( for which no prosecution would generally be expected to follow.

A number of charity groups do this - I used to help out with ‘open country’ in Harrogate who paired up with Henshaws to do weekly tandem rides off road

Perhaps you can advise on how to word a question and receive only applicable replies

I had a post deleted because I posted a reply that was about UNISEX saddles and not a direct reply to a post that was "posted" about a specific saddle

What is the difference

I stated NOT ride to work so why post a reply commenting on Ride to work ?

I also received a PM a month back from someone who said "Why people reply to questions that have NOT been asked, saying", "Don't people read the question before posting ?"

When the same thing happened, I asked about "X" and received a reply nothing to do with the question even though I said NOT THIS xxxxx
Well, as an AUTISTIC person myself, I suggest you might want to get over yourself and wind your neck in a little…

As has been pointed out by others, access to work grants are *not* predicated on “ride to work” they are quite specifically targeted at things that facilitate work - for example an adapted E-bike for use *at* work - so, since, your claim is that you make your questions “100% clear”, then my answer is equally “100% correct” - if you wanted to exclude answers regarding use of E-bikes *at work* then you really should have said that, shouldn’t you?

If your proposed use is entirely predicated on leisure and recreation, then you may want to look at whether you qualify for PIP, which is also tied in with the motability scheme for those with higher levels of impairment, but also a lower rate (covering both physical impairments and other neurological/psychological/psychiatric impairments) that could be used to fund the purchase of an E-bike or similar.

Have a look at access to work.

I was able to get a full grant towards a specialist off-road mobility scooter as it was entirely for work purposes. I can see no reason why similar couldn’t be done with a bicycle - if , and only if - you can tie it in with work.
