Power Meters: Do I need/want one?

Just had a message from Cyclist telling me - and all the other subscribers - that Stage have drastically reduced the price of their power meters and I should seriously consider getting one! Should I? I think I want one but...... I spin 2 or 3 times a week at the gym and the bikes have power display,...

Touring on Skye

Hello, We (my wife and I) did the Outer Hebrides last year, going back again in a different format this year. I've a trip planned for June where we'll be staying at Glenelg and using the little ferry to Skye for a 2 day jaunt. Originally planning to leave the car at the B&B but now looking to &q...

Re: hebridean cycle way Bike transfer

Another change! Now travelling in June and looking for people to share the Heb Shuttle leaving Stornoway on Monday the 17th June. Just two of us, me and my wife. Not sure how the reservation process works, I suppose they will want all names at time of booking? Will also post with new heading to refr...

Re: A good average speed to aim for??

Probably.

Maybe we should return to the premise that we are just out to enjoy ourselves? So a good average is one that we are satisfied with. If it's higher or lower than yesterday or higher or lower than someone else's is there an acceptable explanation?

Re: A good average speed to aim for??

It's your body with your specific variables. Maybe a good average speed is one that is higher than yesterdays?

Re: hebridean cycle way Bike transfer

Despite earlier comments I'm now looking at Heb Shuttle Stornoway to Barra on Friday the 2nd August. Risking midges but HeyHo! There may be 2 others with me, or maybe not, but still willing to share. Still nothing confirmed but hope to finalise dates/numbers soon. Could do the 9th instead.

Re: hebridean cycle way Bike transfer

I now have my wife and 2 other couples interested so there might be 4 (or 6) of us travelling. Which brings me to the next point: Cumbria reminded me that accommodation is likely to book up early. My investigation so far makes me think accommodation is few and far between. So how do I enquire about ...

Re: hebridean cycle way Bike transfer

Getting back to the original discussion... If one was a Billy no Mates, would it be reasonable to cycle North to South at less cost than a solo shuttle? I know it's probably into the wind but having looked at the route one could enjoy a slightly different route down and up. My original thinking was:...

Re: hebridean cycle way Bike transfer

Hello,

I now know that the 23/24 won't work for me, sorry.
Am I right in thinking that if 1 group of 4 book the shuttle it is £270 (split 4 ways) but if 4 individuals book a ride they each pay £270?

I'll be canvassing my friends for ride partners - if I go ahead!

Good luck, John

Re: Outer Hebrides "tour". Train to Oban or car?

I'm in the very early stages of thinking about all this and am homing in on: car to Ullapool, ferry to Stornaway Shuttle Bus from Stornaway to Barra, cycle back to Lewis, ferry back to Ullapool drive home. Car parking and accommodation all to be worked out yet : ) My house to Oban is 280miles/7hours...

Re: No More Extra 9 Months on Passport After Early Renewal

oddly enough I was considering the implication of having to have maybe 6 months left on a passport after arriving in a foreign country. But if I don't want to renew (which I don't, for various reasons) does it mean I have to stop travelling 6 months before the passport expires?

Re: hebridean cycle way Bike transfer

hello, oddly enough I was recently holidaying with a couple who nearly did the Hebridean way last year and it inspired me to consider it myself (wife and I) absolutely nothing planned or even investigated yet but if things progress I might well be in touch. I know 1st come 1st served so don't turn d...
