Re: Mudguard screws sheared off and embedded in frame

Mightn't a small appropriate bit in a Dremel bore right thru, much like removing a rivet?

Re: Rim Tape

Anyone use VeloPlugs? I've had excellent results with them.

Re: Nuvinci hub

I only did a test ride with one, but compared to the Sturmey 3-speed I was used to it felt 'mushy'. I personally feel it was mostly suited to relatively flat roads ridden by a rider not interested in speed.

Re: Noisy Sturmey Archer 3sp

Maybe I spoke too soon: I have a roll of UHMW tape from years ago, but only 1/2" wide, and it's real sticky. I don't know what's available in the UK or Europe, but Stateside there's: https://www.mcmaster.com/uhmw-polyethylene-tape/ Ridiculous prices in the larger sizes, though. FWIW Helicopter ...

Re: Noisy Sturmey Archer 3sp

Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE or just UHMW) aka Helicopter Tape is highly wear-resistant and is sometimes used on chain stays to protect from chain rub. Wondering if that would be appropriate.

Fascinating read. Been listening to my 2nd speed rattle for about five years and eventually accepted that Mick F had it right with "...it's a rattly thing". Looking forward to your resolution, Mick.

"This is unusual, possibly unique. I disagree with Brucey..."

I commend you sir, your post has to be the most polite I've seen...and disagreeing with Brucey in such a manner makes it all the more unique. Tres bien!

Re: Brompton-esque build; guess the weight

Titanium goodies with Marathon Plus? Although I use and am a fan of those tires, I just can't imagine using them when weight matters. 14 kgs. (or about 31 lbs. this side of the pond).
