Same here: I've used 'helicopter tape' on my trike frame to protect against chain slap and it worked just fine. Seems never to wear out.

I only did a test ride with one, but compared to the Sturmey 3-speed I was used to it felt 'mushy'. I personally feel it was mostly suited to relatively flat roads ridden by a rider not interested in speed.

Maybe I spoke too soon: I have a roll of UHMW tape from years ago, but only 1/2" wide, and it's real sticky. I don't know what's available in the UK or Europe, but Stateside there's: https://www.mcmaster.com/uhmw-polyethylene-tape/ Ridiculous prices in the larger sizes, though. FWIW Helicopter ...

Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE or just UHMW) aka Helicopter Tape is highly wear-resistant and is sometimes used on chain stays to protect from chain rub. Wondering if that would be appropriate.

Titanium goodies with Marathon Plus? Although I use and am a fan of those tires, I just can't imagine using them when weight matters. 14 kgs. (or about 31 lbs. this side of the pond).

Seems to these old eyes that the conical adjusting washers in the first photo are incorrectly installed. Ought to make caliper alignment a bit difficult.
