My guess would be they are there possibly as much for legal reasons as safety or engineering, bit like lawyers lips on fork dropouts.

This was something I checked before I bought my ebike. It struck me that the FAQ could be a bit more specific about chipped ebikes. I assume they would not be covered on public roads as they would be illegal, but would they be covered on private land, etc?

I went to my local Evans. They provided test bikes within a couple of days, all pretty straightforward. I bought a hybrid at the beginning of the year and an MTB recently. Good discounts on both even the MTB which was a sale bike.

Apart from plasters and antiseptic wipes the thing I (and a few grateful others) have used most is sting relief antihistamine.
