Crank Length

I have been wondering over the past few days is crank length has a dramatic effect on this for us mere mortals?

I know Tour riders often use longer cranks but as many have said, I'm not a Tour rider. Surely I could spin a 170mm crank around at a higher cadence easier than say a 175mm? Or maybe not?

Re: Best stove for tour.

Make your own, if it's confiscated you can put together another one when you get there.

Make your own Meths Burner

As I was surfing on an outdoors forum looking at tent reviews I cam across this article. Thought it might be of interest to people. I'm gonna have to buy to cans of coke on the way home tonight to give it a try at the weekend. http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/gear-features/make-your-own-meths-burner/622...

Re: Gelert Solo

I think with the comments on here and other forums, and the fact Amazon are selling them £23 delivered I'll probably buy one when I've finished selling one or two items. I'm not sure if it will be quite big enough but I think for that price if it doesn't work then I can just Ebay it or similar. What...

Gelert Solo

I have read the older posts on here regarding this tent. The most recent on the Gelert is last Spring. I'm just wondering what people's assessment of it is now after having used it for a year or more. I know about the poles problems on the Solo so I'm looking for impressions and reviews outside of t...

Why would you aim for a 3 man tent Vernon?

Mapping a Tour

Well I've had an idea for a little tour this summer, probably around three days worth. My wife's parents live in New Malden, London so I thought that when we go down to visit during the summer she could drive down and I could cycle down. I've used Mapmyride for riding around the Peak District but ar...

I've already reported myself. These things should not go unpunished! Unfortunately for me I'm already on a warning for often using just one pannier.

Re: Brooks and Nikwax

Thanks for all the replies. It always so diverse on here. Just so you know I did put a smidge of Nikwax on it yesterday and then immediately regretted it. Not because it did anything funny to the saddle but because the sun came out. You should wait 24 hours for the Nikwax to cure so I didn't want to...

Brooks and Nikwax

I've been looking through some of the previous Brooks related posts and I see that Proofhide is talked about a lot. However, after I forgot to put a bag over my Brooks in today's rain I was thinking about the Nikwax I used on my boots. What are other peoples thoughts on how it may effect the longevi...

Re: BBC Working Lunch - Chris Juden

What I find the most ironic about Working Lunch is that the show's presenters, organizers, producers and such would like to imagine that high flying, important business people are watching. In reality they're either working or having lunch at a very expensive restaurant. It's the same for the Politi...

Re: Favourite tea shops

After this Saturday's run out I feel I should mention the Beresford Tearoom in Hartington. It was a nice little tea shop with good food at good prices. We happen to sit at a table with the owner as well since it was so full and she was a lovely lady. Recommended if you're passing through.
