Re: Essential stuff to have in your camping kit
It comes nowhere on my camping list, but there are lots of plausible differences between freshly ground and preground coffee, including degassing, oxidation, and effects of a different grinding process on extraction. But the real test is to compare them back-to-back and blinded. If you can tell the...

Re: Eurovelo 15 Along the Rhine to Rotterdam
I have a flight booked at the end of August to Dusseldorf, then i hope to train down to Mainz and cycle Eurovelo 15 back to Ijmuiden, ferry home. I have checked German trains (https://www.bahn.de/en/view/index.shtml ) and it appears straight forward to book a bicycle even on ICE trains, The Dutch na...

Re: New to me revolution country premier
I thought I'd resurrect this post as I fitted Schwalbe Marathon's 700x38 and throw my tuppence into the pot. For me personally its such a massive upgrade to running 32" Conti sport contacts. The rough gravel tracks, dirt trails, bridleways, uneven, cracked tarmac and concrete roads are all a lo...

Re: Cycling on the A5
Hi, Just like to say a big thanks for all your input re the A5 - most notably from MartinBrice. I have now completed the trip and am thankfully alive to tell the tale. As I had 233 miles to cover in 2 days (Battersea, London to Ilkley, N.Yorks), I decided I had no option but to go for the A5, since...

Who makes your bike and is it important
With nearly every manufacturers frames being built in Taiwan in the same factories, Does it really matter what make of bike we choose? Or is it more important to choose components and geometry over brand names? I ask because there is often a big difference in price for similarly spec'd bike's and is...

Re: New to me revolution country premier
As for the performance in gloop and gravel, it's not an MTB!you need to take a different approach to those surfaces, I could show you but I can't actually explain it in words.
You mean ride like miss Daisy ☺

Re: New to me revolution country premier
Thanks for the input, I think my best option as Pete75 has suggested is to cycle up to Edinburgh co-op cycle co in Newcastle and ask in store. The Sport Contacts get good reviews. Why change them? Unless you were going to be using muddy paths in which case swapping the front tyre for something with ...

Re: Albanian free camping facilities
I was in Albania not long after the fall of Enver Hoxha. Marshall law, curfews lots of poorly dressed soldier's with AK's. Just as many plain clothes and uniformed police everwhere with guns also. There was literally hundreds of those dome pil boxes on the side of the road from Tirana to Berat. I'd ...

New to me revolution country premier
I've just bought a second hand revolution country premier touring bike. I'm really pleased with the purchase. Re: Newcastle to Heathrow?
If your looking to shorten the Journey to Heathrow airport sure you can take a ferry to Harwich or Hull instead of Newcastle. But do not do so because some folk have painted a picture of a Mad Max post apocalyptic bike ride through a depressed and run down area where you have to cycle on "A&quo...

Here it is fully loaded at Koln on the Rhine. I hope that this gives you inspiration. My most expensive item from this set up is my tent (Vaude Taurus UL). Have fun planning and buying your kit - its addictive but doesn't have to be super expensive or over complicated. https://i854.photobucket.com/...
