Re: European Holiday 2021 suggestions ( flattish terrain )

You’re in Hull, so overnight ferry from Hull to Europort in Netherlands.
Then the world is your oyster. Netherlands is very cycle friendly and flat (but watch out for the wind). Ideal for a first short continental tour.

Re: suggestions for a long, safe route pls

Have you thought about using the German Radweg network....largely traffic free or little traffic and often following rivers. I’ve been researching Baltic to Adriatic. Lübeck (medieval Hanseatic Port) to the Elbe. Follow Elbe Radweg to the Saale (only Magdeburg on the route and the cycle path goes ri...

Re: Invisible indicators on new cars.

Surely this would be a Cycling UK campaign that would be more useful and more achievable (I.e. would cost the government nothing) than some .

Re: Dawes frame numbers; cracking the code(s)?

Bought a Dawes Mojave (new) in June 2002 although I don’t know how long it had been in stock.
Frame number YFOIK 04124
Hope this helps.

Re: Advice on Morecambe Bay Cycleway

I have ridden this route (in parts at different times). It is generally flat/slightly undulating. There is a hill between Ulverston and Greenodd which I chose to avoid by taking the A590 instead. I wouldn’t recommend this for a trike or for anyone uncomfortable with fast traffic. The off-road sectio...

Re: van for bikes and camping

Have a look at Citroen Despatch/ Fiat Scudo. You can find them as Combi models (Windows & removable/foldable rear seats). The body size increased a little in, I think, about 2015. I have an older one and have found it ideal for my needs.

Re: Slowing motor traffic - press the button!

The other day I was cycling down the road when a person loitering by the pedestrian crossing pressed the button but made no attempt to cross. Naturally I stopped and waited until the light changed to green. It was cold and wet and I developed a bad cold. The following day I was cycling down a differ...

Re: Favourite tea shops

Try the village hall at Gargrave when there's a flea market/collectors fair on. They are usually on the second and fourth Sunday of the month. You have to pay 50 pence to get in but the money goes to keeping the hall going and I'm in favour of preserving this sort of thing. The cakes are all home ma...

Re: Leeds- Liverpool on a Trike

There are at least 4 gates between East Marton and Greenberfield locks (Barnoldswick).
There is a mile long tunnel at Foulridge with no towpath. You have to leave the canal and go on country lanes and a path before rejoining the canal. From memory the path has a gate at each end.
