Re: P&O Ferries

New: the president of Brittany Ferries says the French government will sign a decree tomorrow which will force P&O Ferries to pay the French minimum wage.
It’s not clear how long the company will be given to comply.
UK government hopes to implement similar law “in the summer”.

Just a conversation, no project yet. 3.6 GW aggregate across several cables.

Massive, but no great unknowns...

Second, quite a few routes near me go onto public access land or dead end at the top of a hill or something. What are the rules for bikes on public access land? Could I cycle from the end of one route across the hill on public access land and then meet up with the dead end of another route?

Was thinking though are some tyres more puncture resistant than others ?? (I'm assuming those it shipped with are super basic).
Would also like to go to the max recommended tyre size of 28mm (over the 26mm shipped).

Seems like the choice is endless ! Looking to ideally increase ride comfort a tad while still being able to maintain a fair clip.
Something worthwhile doing ?? Whats recommended.
How important is puncture resistance?

I know of plenty of people who panic when the fuel warning light comes on - I used to do 60 miles further before filling up.

In a BEV you have a couple of really useful tools:
- A generally good range-o-meter
- The ability to increase efficiency and therefore extend range, by just dropping 5mph.
it's repeatedly reported that range anxiety is more common in those who aren't familiar with BEVs. It might be a bit more subtle than that...

I find this very confusing.

What's the best resource? As always I'd start with:

https://www.parktool.com/en-us/blog/rep ... patibility
but they're both pretty minimal.

How about:

I'd never heard of them but here's Carol Vorderman discussing them with David Powell:- https://youtu.be/WJTw8gGES8Y?si=kpfPqdp2lh-uteyX
They probably move activity around rather than creating more. But their political attractiveness is obvious.

Private Eye reports frequently on whatever it is that's happening in Teesside.

This isn't about those wanting to conduct genuine surveys. On the contrary, it's about deterring those forum members who would disrupt them, intentionally or otherwise
======================================
PS Psamathe posted while I was slowly scribing and I can only add

Anybody who thinks the survey might have been done differently can add their comments to the survey itself when they will have less motivation to parade their expertise in surveys.
...
Putting aside the posts which led to the ban the hair went up on the back of my neck as the responses to the thread started appearing. They raised the risk of interference between respondents before they completed the survey, and that can be undesirable.

mcluskc wrote: 17 Mar 2024, 6:44pm Can someone help me determine which chain I should buy.

The chain on the bike has 116 links
Stamped on the chain is 'KMC Narrow'
The rear gears are 7 speed
The front gears are 3 speed

I've been looking online, and I can find 116 links & 10 speed easy enough; but it's very confusing when the description says stuff like: "Only suitable for Shimano ....blah...blah...blah".
This would do the job fine:
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/kmc-5-8-s ... -p-X699035

Anything saying 7 speed basically. 114 or 116 links is pretty standard (and most bikes require the chain shortening by a few links anyway).
Is it ok to use 114 links to replace a 116 one?
I'd think of it as finding the correct chain length for the bike. Start here:
