I think that it has been discontinued. Current products:geocycle wrote: ↑9 Apr 2024, 8:30am Is it still possible to get NikWax wax? I recall some in a shoe polish tin you applied to walking boots with your fingers, a bit like Brooks proofhide. I don’t get on with the liquid stuff they currently produce and most old fashioned dubbin is way too clarty leaving lumps on the leather.
Samoa, 2009?rogerzilla wrote: ↑8 Apr 2024, 9:29pm One SE Asian country recently changed to drive on the left so they could get cheaper used cars from Japan and Australia, but I can't remember which.
Which includes:
There's a lot of border crossings on the Rhine route. The marking seemed to be much less than previously. Often not even a notice. I found myself looking at the style of street signs to check what country we were in.bohrsatom wrote: ↑8 Apr 2024, 8:12pm One thing I love about cycling in Europe, that you can't easily replicate elsewhere, is finding yourself near the border of another country and popping over just to see what things are like. I find it amazing that despite open borders you still notice the transition from one country into the other.
That's the sort of thing that I suggested upthread. But with two pieces that clamped together rather than zip ties.backnotes wrote: ↑8 Apr 2024, 7:26pm There's a similar discussion on YACF that leads to the Audax Tech group on Facebook where someone has 3D printed a light mount for a carbon fork with no drilling at the front. It fixes on with zip-ties, so I'm not sure how using those would stack up for someone who says they are not really a sticky tape finish kind of person!
Australia changed. Ireland changed. Sweden even changed which side of the road.rareposter wrote: ↑8 Apr 2024, 6:06pmThat plus the vast expense of replacing all existing road signage, street markings etc with the equivalent in km / kph and so on.rogerzilla wrote: ↑8 Apr 2024, 5:57pm Because 90% of Brits would refuse to use km. It's not a vote-winner.
Also most cars sold in the UK prioritise the mph reading on the speedo display although with modern digital displays, the driver can choose settings.

Rather than asking why many cyclists record speed and distances in metric, I think we should be asking why we are still lumbered with a dual measurement system on our roads 50 years after the intended metric conversion was to have been completed.

And on there being more to politics than policies:Jdsk wrote: ↑19 Mar 2024, 9:55am From another thread:This is such an important point: improving the behaviour of the executive is crucial, and quite different from any changes in policy, whether economic, social or on any other axis.All the signs are that a Starmer gov, even with a large majority, is going to disappoint those hoping for a major change in UK politics. There are clear signs of a shift away from radical policies (e.g. green agenda) towards the right, and Rachel Reeves is already buttering up and accepting large donations from the usual lobby groups - e.g. gambling.
Combined with the dire financial state that will be inherited, I'm afraid the best that can be hoped for is a change in morality - i.e. fewer dodgy Tory MP's - but not much else.

None of this matters a hang just as long as everybody is comfortable, and every previous time i have attempted to compare bike measurements with forum members it has all dissolved into a most unsatisfactory mess.....even stuff as basic as leg length and saddle height.

Yes.LancsGirl wrote: ↑8 Apr 2024, 1:53pmThe formula is:
Z = T-(A-15)
Where,
Z= date of the "zenith of morality"
T= today's date (or the date the declaration is made, if in the past)
A=the age of the person declaring the zenith of morality. This must be greater than 40.
The zenith of morality is also know as "when I were a lad".
Declinism has a whole Wikipedia article to itself:Moral decay has been going on for decades, and to be fair we’ve very long had all types of issues in society. Kids will be kids but they’re also a bellwether of society too. Reports from relatives who work in schools suggest that kids can be and often are pretty horrible to each other, but the extremes of horridness seem to be worse than they once were … a reflection on the values and attitudes of their parents.
