Beautiful frame. The lugs put me in mind of HR Morris, certainly ornate enough.

It will be a universal, in a matter of months. When the lie becomes reality, in the cold light of concession after concession by Yours truly Bojo, leaver, as I've said, will turn against committed leaver.

Brexit, as it stands, in this half baked form has been vomitted upon us. Can you name a country that has self inflicted such idiocy upon itself in Europe previously ?

The utter farce of Gibraltar is just a kick off. The unanswered conundrum of Northern Ireland is next, and the Scots, who seem likely to quit the union. And who could blame them. The UK, as i see it doesn't have a leg to stand on, in negotiations on so many vital issues. Idiots led by conniving circus clowns. It's never been a more true statement: we get the government we deserve. I can't imagine a group of individuals less able, nor interested to deliver a good deal for Britain. To listen to Boris, you'd think a no deal exit and economic apocalypse for the UK was already priced in. Which it probably is.

Donald Trump must be rubbing his tiny hands at the prospect.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

When Buyers Remorse kicks in, not many weeks from now, it will turn even Leavers against committed Leavers.

Freedom of movement will be the first 'concession'. And a hundred defeats and concessions to follow. Red lines? No border in the Irish sea, remember that one? Hoodwinked by liars and charlatans. Not a promise will be kept. That's the only guarantee of Brexit. Taking back control? That's the sickest joke of all.

Like i said, we're now on the other side of the looking glass. All the opprobium that was leveled at remainers will now switch to the leavers, who i predict will be known as the real traitors in this longitudinal farce. I bet there won't be a single leaver in six months time who won't deny it thrice in public. 'Who me, no not me, i voted remain'. It'll become a loathsome badge, a hateful and hated band of happy fools. Jeered at and despised.

Leading Britain into a near inevitable apocalypse. And all the trumpeting and naysaying you can come out with won't change that destiny. Won't change a damn thing. Take a bow. Well done.

The first country in history ever to impose economic sanctions on itself.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Division, bitterness, anger and in time probably violence are here to stay. A magic switch pulled last night is not going to change any of that. On this, the flip side of the looking glass expect the focus to pull towards leavers, and a wave of ire and contempt that they have thus far avoided to increase many fold. Rioting, as we've seen in France gets results.

I predict the next twelve months are going to be the nastiest Britain has seen in a very long time, perhaps ever. There will be no healing balm, and no solution for it for years and years to come.

Anyone who believes Brexit will be 'done' by the end of this year is as deluded and daft as the idiots who believed what was writ high on the side of Boris's bus.

The only saving grace is that very shortly Mr Johnson will have to own the omnishambles he and his acolytes have created.

A thing which in itself will be a beauty to behold, no doubt.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Rioting is not as outlandish as it seems. Not that long since the last bout. It's been very successful in France of late, and Macron has been all but forced to back down from his pension reform.

Rioting as opposed to demonstrating is a very effective political tool of the people. Now we are on the other side of the looking glass everything that was hurled at remainers will now be done to leavers. Very soon its going to be apparent that we have little bargaining power or position and every inch we get from the EU they'll take a yard.

Expect to see short and long term increase in violence and opprobium towards Brexiters and a relative increase in tension and ill feeling. If the next stage goes badly (likely given the low rent negotiations so far) it'll be Brexit supporting MPs hiring security protection and the trumpeting of the current crop of Leavers will quickly be replaced by silence and denial.

I see trouble ahead. And it's not ending any time soon. There is nothing from Boris or his troupe to suggest they have the faintest clue how to extricate themselves from Europe nor secure a trade deal that isn't entirely deleterious to the British people. If they lose financial passporting, Britain is done for. Like i said, we're now in a volt face situation, where black is white and white is black. Anything could happen.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Now that we have finally left the EU and it appears there's no going back, it's about time we took stock of the idiocy of it all.

1. Brexiters have been hoodwinked. Faced with a binary question, they chose the wrong answer. But these are the kind of people who don't like to think too hard, nor consider the outcome about anything. So that worked for them.

2. In the next 12-24 months we will see what kind of negotiating hand and skill Boris has. I'm thinking 'poor' and ditto. Very.

3. The sword the EU has over Britain is financial passporting for the City of London. Take that away and Britain is broken overnight. Fact. 15% hole in GDP. Utter disaster.

4. There's no going back. Buyers remorse will kick in strongly in the next few months, when we see exactly how little the UK has to bargain with and the pound of flesh Europe wants in return for even the smallest of concessions.

In a nutshell no country in the history of history has ever been so stupid as to impose sanctions upon itself. Expect the blame to fall fiercely at the feet of Brexiters. This blame could easily escalate into action and reprisals. If the economic apocalypse of recinding of passporting occurs, expect a recession the likes of which and the length no one can even begin to imagine. Apocalypse is not too strong a word. Neither is stupidity. The wounds and division will not heal easily, in fact i see division escalating as the reality of the situation become daily more apparent.

Well done that Yes man. Take a bow.

The current outbreak is very similar to SARS (another Coronavirus) which started roughly the same time of year, end of November and petered out by April. SARS killed about 800 people worldwide and had a 10% mortality rate

This new novel virus seems less virulent and less easily spread, so i think containment should be more effective this time around. With SARS, the Chinese concealed the outbreak for nearly two months. It seems, at least in part they have learned their lesson in 2020.

Re: Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

I often treat my Brooks Pro with a bit of olive oil after rain

It seems to drive out the moisture and keep the leather supple. I've had the Pro for 25 years this year, and apart from a few scrapes to the big copper rivets its as good as new

Re: Campagnolo Daytona gear alternatives

Campagnolo Triple equipment can be had quite cheaply seconds hand from the usual source. I recently bought a Chorus triple for 70 quid in excellent condition, the bottom brackets are expensive though and is not a great idea to buy a used one. About another 50 for that. You can probably pick up a good used Daytona triple rear and front mech for 40 each. Cassettes can be expensive especially in 9 speed, you could pay anything from 50-200 for one. Chains are about 20.

So for about £270 you can have a very clean drive train with good ratios to mate to your levers. Unfortunately Campagnolo is never cheap, but you're paying for quality. Campagnolo from that era is streets ahead of Shimano in terms of build, longevity and sheer class.

I see Boris is still hiding under a rock /in a fridge. Sending out dimwitted lackeys to break the bad news. Government not so much by proxy, but from a remote site. Interesting, what's going on?

Canada is probably the most toleramt, multi cultural, well integrated society on earth. They also have excellent summers and fantastic skiing, winter sports and bags of bonhomie.

Oh, and they have native wolves also. And no nasty nuclear power stations. I'd up sticks in an instant if i could afford it...

It's said they have the best air quality bar none. Not bad for a first world English speaking country.

They probably pay the minimum wage (by law), which I'm sure most British unemployed would accept, if they could get out of their lazy beds to do the long shift work. Clearly they can't, hence the absolute necessity for a foreign labour workforce.
