Re: Petition to raise UK cut-off speed

Be careful what you wish for. With greater entitlements comes greater regulation, licensing and revenue generation.

Re: Big Bike revival ... yet more helmet normalising!

No, that's not how it works. You made a specific claim, so it's up to you to support it with evidence - else admit that you just made it up, like you just did!   Again, you ignore the flaw in your argument. I stand by my assertion based upon what I see. Prove me wrong, oh that’s rig...

Re: Big Bike revival ... yet more helmet normalising!

[My generalisation about commuting and pastime is based upon my personal perception, which you claim is based upon the societal perspective, driven by your experts? So if you wish to challenge it, it is for you to fund your own research. No, that's not how it works. You made a specific claim, so it...

Re: Big Bike revival ... yet more helmet normalising!

If you'd like me to get it for you, about £1m should make a reasonable start. How would you like to pay? My point exactly. Those claiming to speak about the facts are using incomplete, insufficient data upon which these experts spout their ‘conclusions’. My generalisation about commuting and pastim...

Re: Helmet discussions in York

From what I could understand, none of the “studies” had any hard evidence to support their theories. Before introducing a law there needs to be hard evidence. Before any medical intervention, and that is what helmet promotion by medics amounts to, there needs to be evidence. Those so called experts...

Re: Big Bike revival ... yet more helmet normalising!

Dear god, have you actually listened to yourself? Cycling for most is a pastime or a commute. Most of those are thinking adults who are quite capable of making a decision without over thinking it like you do. Talk about loss of perspective  OK, if you want: the overview of public health and ...

And we all have the freedom to politely ignore, smile sweetly and move on. Exactly. Please post your procedures and mantras for doing this. I have attempted the count-to-ten and various other recommendations but my inner devil says !*$^ that! Cugel the uncontrolled To use a word mentioned in anothe...

Re: Just venting (advice from a stranger)

In what other field of human activity do people feel it's acceptable to give unsolicited advice to perfect strangers??? In dog walking, driving, controlling kids, parking in supermarket car parks, playing music in the garden, washing the car in front of your house, how you dress, etc etc.. in short...

Re: Big Bike revival ... yet more helmet normalising!

And I thought Brexit was a divisive issue... I get the point that there is and will always be debate on the question does wearing a helmet offer any safety benefits to the wearer. So to that subjective question I believe the answer should be, it’s your choice, wear one if you think you will benefit ...

Re: Helmet discussions in York

From what I could understand, none of the “studies” had any hard evidence to support their theories. Talking about total a number of deaths over a given period of helmet usage and increases / decreases of bike usage over the same or similar periods quite frankly means nothing unless you invest a con...

Re: Raleigh Centros Headset Adjustment ?

The get some useful advice from this forum, 2 best options :- 1. Wait until some one familiar with your design/model of headset comes along with the answer about how to adjust it. 2.
