Re: best conversion kit

Noted though. I am going to test ride the Orbea carbon offering at 12kg over the weekend to see what is like on and off road.

Re: best conversion kit

I reckon the Bafang cranks are low grade 6061 alloy, and look very chunky. Teamed with the steel chainring and guard, you're probably in the 1.6kg ballpark. Middleburn cranks and the adapter /cnc chainring probably 3-400 the set. So a 3lb weight saving very achievable. It's something you would notic...

Re: Shaft drive..why? why not?

I think you mean this ceramic direct drive system, it's supposed to be 99% efficient. The chap in the video mentioned 380 watts.

Re: best conversion kit

Just out of interest, I know the steel chainring/chain guard on the Bafang units can be swapped for a standard 5 arm aluminium conversion and a cnc chainring, but could the supplied cranks be swapped for something lighter? I'm thinking of lot of the weight is tied up in these bog standard steel /all...

Re: Who/When invented eBikes?

I saw a Peugeot electric bike in Paris last year in a flea market, the guy selling it insisted it was from the 1930's. It had lead acid type power source, and what looked a huge rubber band connected to the off side of the bottom bracket. I'll look out photos of it from my hard drive over the weekend.

Re: Something new to watch out for! - suspiciously fast (motor-)bicycles

In Germany the ebike speed restriction is 45kmh. Roughly 28 miles an hour, an eminently more sensible way to regulate. E bike use there is incredibly popular, and who could blame them - when you can replace the convenience /speed of must, if not all local car journeys, why would you even go to the e...

Re: Booze - minimum price?

Men in Shettleston, Glasgow, die younger than anywhere else in the country. At 63, life expectancy is 14 years less than the national average and comparable with Iraq and some countries in the Third World. When you consider life expectancy in the home counties as high as 86 years, that's nearly a qu...

Salmond is standing trial in January for alleged multiple sexual offences, committed while in office. I don't think his return to political life is going to be imminent.

Cane Creek have been supplying Cannondale with headsets for years. They have dozens of variations, yours is probably a semi integrated one. Any cannondale dealer will sort you out.
