Re: Poyner's of Wolverhampton

Russels bike shop not far from local Police Station. Don't know who built his frames.
I have seen a few, nicely done.
Known (fondly?) as 'Nutty Russel' . Don't know if shop is still there, haven't been for 25 years.
Have a look at 'Classic Rendezvous' website, might be some info there.

Re: Two sets of brakes?

Quite a few of the "Cross top" levers actually interrupt the outer cable, and rely in the return spring in the Brake r in the "Main" Lever. So to do what you suggest might involve finding cross top levers with a return spring (Old School brakes had springs in the brakes, more mod...

Re: Review of Highways Act 1835

From distant memory, part of the motor vehicle regs include the statement " mechanically propelled vehicle made intended or adapted for use on the road. " The legislature needs keeping an eye on. I went to a meeting a few years ago in Birmingham where proposals were being discussed to comp...

Re: cleats

Aren't those cleats a bit far back? Try them at the front of the slots , if you have a slightly curved sole this may help, the curve might be restricting entry to the pedal. The optimum is the pedal spindle being under the centre of the ball of the foot (in my Opinion) At least one on my cleated sho...

Re: How we can live in peace with the pedestrian public?

I too teach to Cycling Uk standards (occasionally these days) and a bell is required on a bike In the shop but not once it's on the road. I'd be interested to hear who that lady works for, I'd suggest they don't get value for money if she gets paid for her services. I still have the scars from a ped...

Re: Biopace chainring

Toe strap round the brake lever works a treat. You often see Trike riders doing this, Trikes do have a nasty habit of wandering off on their own if not suitably restrained.
