Eric Tremaine - interview with LEJOG tricycle record holder from 1982
As the title suggests I enjoyed an evening chatting with Eric Tremaine of the Leicestershire Road Club, who is now resident in Canada. In July 1982 he broke the record for the tricycle End to End, covering the distance in 2 days 6 hours 18 minutes You can listen to his vivid memories here: https://s...

Re: Record attempt scheduled
Given Sheriden did 870 miles in total as opposed to the more modern 840, should her time be adjusted to reflect this? This is a good point, and one I thought about when drawing the graph. Really Eileen's graph shouldn't curve off as dramatically as it does for this reason. One option would be to in...

Re: Record attempt scheduled
Fantastic effort but sadly well off the mark in terms of the aimed for target, not helped with elements and off route excursions but still would have meant 10.5 days in best conditions, still, no small feat whichever way you look at it. I often wonder how the likes of Eileen Sheridan might have don...

Re: Record attempt scheduled
Hello all, Happy lockdown to everybody, I hope that this message finds you well, As part of a celebration of the rich history of the Road Records Association, which is now over 130 years old, I have embarked upon a project to interview a number of past record holders. This is just part of the RRA &q...

Re: 100hr lejog
So I’m having a go at the 100 hr time. Plan is really for 4 days riding. Going le to Monmouth day 1 mostly via a30 but with options to use some of the minor roads on either side if traffic does my head in. Day 2 aim is to get to Penrith. Day 3 finishes at Fort William. I reckon on 16 hrs moving tim...

Re: Record attempt scheduled
So Butler's 509.3 claim in 2001 was incorrect by 3.5 miles? :? 509.3.JPG Hi - not sure about that, I've not seen that before. I had a flick through a couple of John Taylor's RRA books and see no reference to Gethin claiming that distance. I do know that 509.3 is Gethin's 24 hour PB (under R...

A brief note on 24 hour cycing records. This post is about men's records; but all categories also feature women's records. If we restrict ourselves to unpaced records on the open roads, there are still a few to choose from. The oldest is the RRA (http://www.rra.org.uk/) record, of which the recent ...

Re: Record attempt scheduled
Hi there - trying to provide a little info on the paperwork: Ian, and any other RRA aspirant(s), has to submit a notice and schedule to Brian Edrupt who is the RRA records secretary. On the notice the aspirant specifies the first possible start day, which for Ian is tomorrow. But the attempt is imme...

Re: Penny Farthing record
Unless it's a ringer, which I doubt, 24hourmaths is the current holder of the record. I am standing to attention as I type this. Welcome indeed. ======= PS Is it significant that there's no more room on that shield? Thanks :) The 24 hour shield is already full and now has a rather unsightly larger ...

The thing is, the lengths of time he took are conflicting. ... If there are errors in the facts, are there errors in the FACT that he did it? Hello there.
