Re: Wall mounted work stand - any good?

I bought a reasonable priced wall stand ... I welded a sepearte tube to a plate and bolted this to the wall stand plate This allows me to clamp the welded tube to the rafters in the garage roof .which allows tbe bike stand to hang from roof . I have a couple of roof clamps so regardless of the floor...

Bike service establishments

Would any shop mechanics be informative to say if the service only part of a shop is a returnable business or are they there as part of the whole process that the owner may reluctantly keep going ...so would the owner himself have much left for himself if he employed say 2 mechanics

Re: Dogs off lead on shared use path

I get the same on a daily basis on my commute. I treat shared use paths as a place to move slowly, often walking pace near walkers. Seems reasonable to me. Dogs don't tend to be a problem until the owners call them to heel where upon the dog stops mooching in the bushes and stands confused in the m...

Re: Dogs off lead on shared use path

It was impossible to talk to her as she just ranted, so I kept quiet. As far as I know there are no by-laws that require a lead on the path, but there might be. Assume there isn't. I am always extremely careful when kids and dogs, and horses are on a path/road, and I am very safety conscious. I'm 66...

Re: Tyne Cycling Tunnel

I had actually wondered if wooden escalators were still legal. It was at such an escalator where the King's Cross tragedy occured way back in about 1988. Perhaps that is why it is no longer a moving staircase. That was a strange one how that was allowed to say the least John. . .as the tunnel escal...

Re: Tyne Cycling Tunnel

The sustrans signage does use the tunnel to link between NCN14 (south side) and NCN72 (north) I think that may be where any tourers from outside the area " may" get lost As the hadrians way NC72 targets the roman era ...this route then diverts to South shields via the 3 rivers route NC14 ....

Re: Tyne Cycling Tunnel

Unique? There is one quite like it in Hamburg, old St Pauli Tunnel, lift + stairs Unless the German tunnel has a line in the middle saying 'Northumberland/Durham' then the Tyne one is indeed unique! Does the Tyne Tunnel still have wooden escalators? On both sides north and south one set of wooden e...

Re: Tyne Cycling Tunnel

Used to be a regular in my youth. Loved it in the middle,; Northumberland/Durham border. No longer in Geordieland. I did walk through a few years ago. You may be glad to know that the tunnel appearance has remained the same and retained the old fashioned look ,, all be it with a little grit blastin...

Re: Scotland north coast 500

I notice that the route for this ride is almost entirely on A roads. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on bits to avoid, or paved detours that would make for a more relaxing trip? There does not seem many options on the west coast, maybe not too busy? The stretch up through tongue, bettyhi...

Re: Rehook

I think the best thing about this re hook is the amount of much simpler advice I have read as an alternative Re set on bottom ....... Re set on top using shifters ....... Improvising a tyre lever as a hook ..... A chain that's always falling off ?? The root issue will be the chain itself All obvious...
