Anyway, back to my original point. You've all given me some really useful information and I've done a bit of planning based on it. I'm intending to get the train from Ilkeston to Dronfield then ride across west the thirty miles to Whaley Bridge, then amble along via the Rochdale canal to Hebdon Brid...

I did a google image search of Chirk Aqueduct and from the photographs of it the path looks perfectly ridable, why does it have to be walked?
