Calories burned or energy input measurement seem a little academic.

Precisely.

Re: Helmets for cricketers instead of cyclists

For anyone unsure about helmet wearing...Stott your head off a wall a few times, with and without a helmet....Then come on and convince me it makes no difference...(with pictures of the impact) Without a helmet it will hurt. So you'll stop doing it and try and avoid doing it again. With a helmet on ...

Re: All those choices!

I'm afraid you can either have simple or comprehensive but not both. Comprehensive is bound to cover detailed discussions on different motors, for example. He isn't really a novice any more if he has had the chance to try all those different machines. Precisely. .No short cut to research and try so...

For anyone unsure about helmet wearing...Stott your head off a wall a few times, with and without a helmet....Then come on and convince me it makes no difference...(with pictures of the impact) I'll let someone else try the experiment, but I predict that it will make a difference. I imagine the pres...

Re: Ebikes and fitness

DaveP Thank you for posting the results of this very interesting study. I have never seen such a study before and having read it over a few times find the results fascinating. There are a number of references which state a slight advantage to the ebike rider which give credence to the comments of m...

Re: Touring eBike

Hello. After 45 years of charging everywhere on my stable of bikes, I've been felled by familial heart disease. Half-a-mile on the flat now leaves me gasping for breath. I've bought a cheap folding eBike for round-town use, and have got on OK with that. Does anyone know of (what an old fogey like m...

Re: Ebikes and fitness

We bought an ebike, a cube with Bosch motor about 8 months ago, mainly for my wife to use. It's been excellent and in fact I have hogged it since we bought it. I am an experienced cyclist and until relatively recently had a high level of fitness, competing in mountainous gran Fondos and long rides....

Re: Clothing for Touring

After a 35 year career in the Merchant navy I took a break last year and spent the entire winter in Northern Scotland as a postman. My daily attire consisted of base layer, fleece top and polyester jacket. All items of synthetic material and were purchased new for a grand total of less than £50. Fu...

I think I would be leaving my stuff at a hotel or somewhere to visit the museum, or give it a miss...As said, even if you take valuables with you,it is a huge inconvenience to have panniers full of stuff nicked...

Re: June weather in Ireland

You would be very unlucky to have rain every day in June.I cycled Ireland and had rain 1 night..glorious sunshine the rest of the week.I would say June or Sept are the most settled...Other summer months you might not have a cloud....or rain most days...or anything in between...But hey . YOU will hav...

Re: Any recommendations of Companies that organise Cycle holidays in Denmark

We are planning a cycle trip to Denmark in the Summer and would like to do it through a company - any recommendations As said.Do it yourself..Much cheaper.I always organise trips myself.I do fancy "saddle skeddadle " etc..but they are mad expensive..I do like the idea of group cycling,and...
