Re: Shock

Only just seeing this -- hope all is well John -- I have many friends who have been through this and came out the other side with no problems. An anxious time but hold onto the handle bars.

Re: Rear cycle light laying on road!

Northern Ireland -- set it on the footpath still flashing so if whoever lost it came back that way there's a good chance they'll see it.

Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself

Good afternoon all, New to the forum and Cycling UK,so I just thought I'd pop in and say hi. I've recently started cycling again after being a fairly avid road cyclist as a kid and mountain biker in my late 20's. I'm a bit older now, and I've started commuting (just as summer turns to autumn; proba...

Just spotted a rear cycle light on the road -- hope whoever lost it is not an all black ninja or is near home/work.-- it was almost pitch dark on my cycle into work this morning but saw the still flashing lamp a long way off wondered what it was.

Re: Funniest clean joke I've heard recently

Free urine test Go to a tree trunk and pee on it. If it attracts a lot of ants you have high glucose. If it dries too fast, you have high sodium. If it smells like meat, you have high cholesterol. If you got to the tree and forgot to open your pants to pee, Alzheimer’s. Had trouble aiming at the tr...

Weight lifting friend has something like the first link shows

The cycling friend ( a bit older ) has something like Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in second link but seems to have a higher than usual heart rate when he tries to cycle. He's had stints in too scary stuff.

Re: Knee Pain

There's one thing I'm starting to learn about athlete and mostly cyclists long term high activity. It seems a lot of them have a particular type of heart complaint. An enlarged heart where the muscles of the heart have lost some flexibility so over doing it isn't good either. I have two friends like...

Good advice -- what happened to the hand, was it just the pressure on the handle bars during the trip?

Re: Knee Pain

^ Don't ever give up on physical exercise it's amazing what the right type can do for injury or age related health problems but everything in moderation is a very good adage too. I think it's routine that's the key not fits and starts, it must be something that will be a feature of your daily or wee...

Re: Keeping Handlebar bag away from cables

On my tourer the Ortlieb bar bag mounts on the handlebars. It does press on the cables, and it does wear the outers. The lid opens unobstructed. On my wife's tourer there is an extension bar coming from the stem below the bars. The Ortlieb bar bag on that fits below the cables. It doesn't press on ...

Re: Knee Pain

Maybe most know this already but it was a good starting point for me --- with ball of the foot on pedal axle and the crank horizontal, with a plumb line pressed on the front of the forward knee the plumb Bob should be over the pedal axle. Also second ditching any kind of clip or toe strap. Use a goo...
