Re: Fazua range

I should add in the summer I was getting much more range, roughly 50% more. Yes boost performance drops off noticeably when the battery charge is below 40-50%. The last 20% can dissappear very very quickly especially in the cold. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50389239551_48438a506a_c_d.jpg htt...

Re: Fazua range

Don't forget cold weather + headwind will also reduce range. I recently did a 25 mile loop with 1300ft and used about 50% battery on my Fauza powered Boardman. This would equate to 700 meters of climbing before the battery fully dies. Note my average speed was quicker than the 15.5mph motor support ...

Re: Ebikes and fitness

Did 1hr of hard riding today on my road bike for the first time in a fortnight. Commuting to work on my eBike has if anything made me fitter as demonstrated by the ongoing fall in my resting heart rate and string of PBs today :). eBike or not, any kind of riding gets you fitter...unless you're OP, a...

Re: Ebikes and fitness

^Its not a print out, it's something called Strava :).

Anyways I don't think anyone is trying to count calories, its simply what Strava reports, it was more to show just how little 'assistance' you can ask from an eBike depending on your type of riding terrain.

Re: Ebikes and fitness

A typical ebike ride for me will be in the 23-25 km/h range. Pre ebike, I would average 20-22 km/h. The last few non ebike rides have been 17-18 km/h. I do live in a mountainous area and a typical ride will be 35 km and 800-900m climbing. So perhaps I might not be very representative. I try to use ...

Re: Ebikes and fitness

I have just recreated your ride assuming the use of a conventional bike and it said 970 calories used. You claim an equivalent using an electric which cannot be correct. The print out looks good but seems highly inaccurate, and misleading, exaggerating the benefits.I presume this is after-sales marketi...

Re: Ebikes and fitness

My average speed has been generally 2-3 km/h faster than my previous non electric rides. What average speeds are you hitting. Am finding my eBike is making me fitter simply by letting me get out home, push bigger rings with higher cadence. Did 40 miles today on my Fazua powered Boardman, used 40% c...

A very simplicity way to think about is if you double the power output and the battery remains the same size you will halve your range, presuming you use the extra power.

Re: Gearing.

Just read the post above mine. Amazed by the lack of oomph, I had assumed that an ebike would, in effect, take several decades of the legs and would allow a nice straight through, corn cob cassette. As you see I know nowt. Have you tried an eBike, am not that old 37, or ill, but I absolutely love g...

Re: Gearing.

Just wondering after looking at a selectipn of ebikes in a shop. Why do they all seem to have a single chain ring and a small one at that? My cynical wife reckons it is because the riders are unfit(they must be or they would not ride such a thing) and thus can't go fast any way and will be screwed ...

Re: Boardman man 8.9E hybrid ordered.

Aero bars arrived today, currently doing 60 commuter miles per week. Loving the bike overall, fantastic machine it's essentially replaced my car for commuting:).

Re: Effort or Speed?

This is a recent eBike ride I did, averaging over 18mph on a 17kg hybrid with mudguards. The motor cut off is 15.5mph. At the end of the ride my legs were killing me, trying to sustain 20mph on the flat/1% gradient is hard work on the bike. I've just ordered some aero bars for the hybrid eBike to se...

So 3500 signatures in 6 months, no one with any real power will even notice that as its deleted from records.

As an eBike owner I have no interest in this petition, if you want go quicker on 2 wheels legally buy a moped its pretty simple.

Re: Cube Agree Hybrid C:62 Race Disc E-Bike 2019

It might not be just the bolts, I just got my Boardman Fauza hybrid back from Halfords for noise on pedaling around the crank. Turns out the clutch/crank mechanism was faulty, they replaced the entire crank/BB unit!! It appears the motor hasn't been able to engage properly since new, and at most I'v...

Re: Electric power points for e-vehicles

Am not entirely sure the relevance of EV public charging points to eBikes? But I've been driving EVs since 2015, and currently have owned our Model X for 3.5 years doing 46k. We been to France, Scotland, regularly do Leicester to Cardiff/London in it all without issues. Its also one of only a few EV...
