Re: Hot food on rides...

As cyclist & backpacker I have used Nido for many years because I think it's the best dried milk available. I heard of it many years ago and have hunted for it, but never seen it on a supermarket shelf. Ordering it online and paying the postage feels too much of a faff for the little I'd use, S...

Re: Hot food on rides...

I hadn't heard about Nido before this. I know what's in it. What do people like about it, please? Thanks Jonathan As cyclist & backpacker I have used Nido for many years because I think it's the best dried milk available. I measure the amount I need and carry in a ziplock bag, it's lightweight,...

Re: Rear light mounting problems

I fashioned a bracket fixed to the mudguard using a bent L shaped plate (bracket) and fixing the lamp holder to it, leaving the seatstay clamp intact. I don't use it regularly - I put it there as a back-up to my rack-mounted rear dynamo lamp. Also, I sometimes use it when luggage is obscuring the d...

Re: Couscous - Do You Use It?

We use it quite a lot. It doesn't taste of much by itself... but there again nor does rice, or dried pasta, or oats, or polenta, or lentils etc. but if you add a little stock herbs/spices etc. then problem solved. I particularly like the way you don't have to keep water boiling for 10 minutes so yo...

Re: Hot food on rides...

Can someone tell me what powdered milk is made from, please? I thought it was skimmed milk which was dried and powdered somehow. I've used it loads of times on hiking trips and it was ok enough, but it was the skimmed bit I never liked. Couldn't find full fat dried milk though. Ironic since it's al...

Re: Hot food on rides...

to me powdered milk is like white water The thing with powdered milk is that it's almost all skimmed milk, which will be why it doesn't taste as bad as UHT or proper milk that's been festering in the flask all morning. Full fat powder is available (Nido), but it's surprising how much of it you need...

Re: Hot food on rides...

I've seen cyclists sipping something from small stainless steel vacuum flasks. Never bothered myself, but did buy one of these flasks for a walking friend. They should (or plus padding) fit in a bottle cage and aren't expensive. See this 3 quid one from Wilkos https://www.wilko.com/wilko-500ml-stai...

East Midlands, or at least Derby/Nottingham area, they're gitties. I beg to disagree, as a born and bred Nottingham lad, they were always known as twitchels. Hullo, I'm doing a week's cycle from Oban to Thurso and wild camping along the way (end of August). What tent (2 man/lightweight) would you recommend for bikepacking?
