We are staying on the A9 after the Kessock Bridge past Harry Gow's. Then we come off the A9 and head on a minor road to Munlochy as we are planning on taking the Nigg ferry

Re: Comments on our May 2020 LEJOG route
Having met up in September 2019 and planned a May 2020 LEJOG, which became September 2020 LEJOG, which became May 2021 LEJOG, we have hopefully made our final rescheduling....June 29-July 9. All the accommodation is rebooked which was a trial in itself what with everyone staycationing. Couldn't get ...

Re: 7 day LEJOG 2021
We are doing LEJOG hopefully this May and I've put a fair bit of work into the route. Whilst there are some parts that are irrelevant to you (such as Day 5 we route home to Glossop and thus Day 6 start from Glossop) there is a fair bit that is consistent with the route you've posted. It keeps off bu...

Re: First LEJOG
We are doing a 10.5 day LEJOG May 2021. Here's the thread link which contains the daily routefiles. The only thing you need to be aware of is we detour to Glossop on D5 (the half day) as we live there. Bear in mind our route has some stops in places with very limited accommodation (like Tushielaw, B...

Re: Comments on our May 2020 LEJOG route
Thanks for this info. We are actually going to have a cafe stop in Padstow (the Padstow Brewery tap looks ideal :D ) so will probably cross at 1500GMT/1600BST so looks like we should be able to snag a crossing from the harbour which is a bit easier Our other ferry issue is at Nigg but that either sa...

Re: Comments on our May 2020 LEJOG route
So we're all sorted for May 2021 and it seems we're also taking in Dunnet Head (on the basis that we are unlikely to be "just passing by" any time in the future) One question....we plan to take the Padstow-Rock ferry on Tuesday May 11. I recall someone mentioned that this can be a bit of a...

Re: Transporting kit on a self-guided tour
I suppose with enough planning you could arrange a series of bag drops that you then posted a further 2/3 days along the ride. That way you could get away with about 3 lots of whatever you need. But it seems a bit fraught We are self supported staying in B&Bs etc and we've just decided to travel...

Re: Working towards a LeJoG in September
I'd like to know what route took you to Skipton? Did you visit hull or newcastle enroute too?? Cheers James My guess would be Long Hill to Whaley Bridge, Glossop (where I live), Holme Moss (!), Slaithwaite, Sowerby Bridge then somewehre like Oxenhope, Skipton That's a proper nutter's route Our LEJO...

Re: Comments on our May 2020 LEJOG route
For example, yesterday we did 63 miles with 4,700ft of climbing. It’s more than enough to get out of the SW on a LEJOG. Less than 10,00 ft for the first 167 mls I find Derbyshire hills much harder they go on for longer. EA152D9D-9686-4FD8-A719-AB3A8F5467A2.jpeg A0DD8ED6-7E71-450E-B1B7-207BDBB0329E....

Re: Average speed (laden) for LEJOG
Here's what we're planning to do on our May 2021 LEJOG Start 0900 and look to finish between 1700 and 1800. Our hillier days (Cornwall and Devon) are about 80 miles so, if we assume a couple of hours for stops that means we need to achieve about 12mph moving average. On our flatter days we are doing...

Re: LEJOG and le grub
We are scheduled to do between 80 and 105 miles a day on our LEJOG next May. Taking it steady, that means leaving the B&B about 9am and arriving at the next one about 5-6pm Our plan of attack is to have a decent but not humungous breakfast but probably not "full english" type...too muc...

Re: Comments on our May 2020 LEJOG route
So we're back on it.....2021 May 11-21. I'll incorporate the tweaks to the route suggested upthread. Everything was easy to unentangle except those tossers at hotels.com who kept promising me the refund but in the end I had to make a Cr Card claim to get the cash back. I'm interested to hear what pe...

Re: OK - JOGLE September 2020 it is!
Sadly I think this will have to be postponed. Unless there is a vaccine which is 100% by September the risk of B&B is far too high. No sense in getting infected, nor of my support driver catching Covid-19 either. Perhaps 2021? Although 2022 is looking more likely with the predictions of the pan...

Re: Comments on our May 2020 LEJOG route
Sadly pulled the plug on this last week and in the process of getting our various accommodation and transport payments back The good news is we have a robust plan with routing and accommodation identified. The plan is to see how the land lies in July with a view to a September LEJOG if restrictions ...

Re: Does the Covid-19 virus outbreak make LeJoG too risky ?
LEJOG booked for May We are keeping it under regular review. Everything is booked and most is paid for in terms of accomodation Putting to one side whether it would be wise to be a potential vector there seem to be a few risk factors (assuming that movent isn't banned) 1. Will hotels and B&Bs be...
