What am I missing?
If Andy Wilkinson can do it in 41 hours, a 'traditional' in 44 hours, how come a tandem is struggling to break 50 hours for the end to end record? Reasonably aero, excellent power to weight, what am I missing? http://road.cc/content/news/113945-dominic-irvine-time-trial-legend-glenn-longland-aim-lej...

Re: Cycle2work - another scheme for the rich?
I don't see your logic. The scheme ensures that both bands of taxpayer have the same amount of money to spend on a bike. How is that unfair? Ahh, well that depends on your personal politics, I'm not happy in a country where less than 10% of the population own over 40% of the wealth (4th most unequa...

Cycle2work - another scheme for the rich?
Am I reading this right, the more you earn the more you save on the Cycle2work scheme? lower tax bracket 23-25% saving, higher tax 39-41% saving - see attached.

Dangerous/Careless driving
Just been reading the 'Justice for Cycling' article in the mag and it occurred to me.... When and why did accidents on the roads get split and dealt with differently from accidents in other walks of life? Causing serious injury or death in occupational or leisure arena's don't seem to have their own...

Road layout technical description?
Googled with out success to try and find the name/description of the situation where the road and pavement are at the same level as used in heavily shared low speed areas, as seen in Holland? Any links would be useful for discussion of this layout with ref to lowering traffic speeds. As I understand...

Crossing 'waiting' time
we've been having a discussion re: the 'waiting' time forced on users of road crossing - the time from pressing the button to the crossing cycle starting. Questions; - why do authourities set this at all, why not have immediate response to the button being pressed (disregarding the situation where t...

Scottish cycle road tax
If the proposed Scottish cycle road tax was proportional to the car tax [by what ever method], would that be about 5p! Isn't this just another go at getting cyclists registered Big Brother style. Didn't someone once work out what the cost of road would be if it really did pay for the road system? I ...

CTC Innapropriate Fundraising
I would like to express my objection to the mailing I recieved from the CTC the other day trying to sell me private health care. I would have hoped that ethos of the CTC was against this sort of consumer capitalism as tool for their fund raising - private health care companies manipulate the fear an...
