Re: Sunrace cassettes - views?

I've used their wide range cassettes on MTBs and recumbents. Low price and work well enough. A little heavy, but no complaints.

Re: End of Rainbow Ligfietsen?

Forgot about Flevobikes and RaptoBike. Couldn’t get in touch with Challenge earlier in the year. Lamentable that so many businesses have gone, but that’s the recumbent story worldwide. We are down to one (official) HP dealer in the UK. I can think of a 2 or 3 recumbent dealers in the UK that have di...

Re: Getting rubber bar grips to stick?

+1 for hairspray.

An old BMX trick was spray paint, but that seems over the top.

Re: Recumbent Trike Questions

... I would go with the Ergomesh seat as it’s better on a trike for cornering than the Bodylink..... Whilst I've not sat in either, aesthetically I have a very strong preference for the Bodylink seat (which I accept is a poor justification). What are the downsides to the Bodylink. They do have a Bo...

Re: Recumbent Trike Questions

1. Narrow Lanes: Not had a problem, but I’d be loathe to go down a narrow lane with high walls, not that there are many of those i.e. Hardknott Pass etc. Most drivers give you a wide berth as they can’t work out what it is they are looking at. 2. Knees: I don’t have knee problems, but I do use short...

Re: Average mph difference

I wouldn’t read too much into average speed on a trike. I averaged just over 10mph on my Scorpion FX, not the world’s fastest trike, while the same ride on a 2 wheel recumbent (HP Speedmachine) or upright (Trek Emonda) would be 17 or 18 mph. Hills count against you with the added weight, and I found...

Just over 27mm for both measurements. That’s on a 16mm rim.

Re: Schwalbe Pro One dead!

Certainly the Continental GP that went on the back at the same time is still going strong. Although I admit the front wheel does get more load as it's on a HP Speedmachine.

Re: Getting the ideal position

Plugging 9 to 36 teeth on the back with 46t on the front with a SA IGH on a 559 rear wheel I get 5.6mph to 32.7mph with a cadence of 80rpm. I have a similar set up on my Speedmachine running 155mm cranks, apart from it's a SRAM DD3 hub which has slightly wider ratios. I have an 11-40 teeth cassette ...

Re: Getting the ideal position

Is yours a 26” or 20” rear wheel? I’ve a spreadsheet that I use for my IGH bikes that calculates top speed in each gear for a given cadence. I could plug some numbers into it for you.
