Re: Winter accessories
I wear a fleece balaclava. I look like a bank robber but I am warm. That waits until temperature under 5°C. I wear thin fleece gloves under normal fingerless cycling gloves then I move to a sort of ski/mountain glove with pre bent fingers. I still wear shorts but with thigh length merino leg warmer...

Winter accessories
hi guys i took up cycling this summer and loved it. Now winter is approaching, my ears get cold and I dont know what more to expect. I am looking to get some ear muffs from ebay at £4+ approx, does anyone have any experience on this, as I am guessing it might slightly impede my hearing. Also would t...

Re: Roof mounted racks ??? - Best choice
I used to have the halfords ones, these look similar to the ones I had. My experience: They damage your bike's paintwork They are fiddly to fit. They're awkward to get your bike on. The Thule ones are vastly better, but alas vastly more expensive too. And as noted above, fixings and bars will be a ...

Roof mounted racks ??? - Best choice
hello guys I am looking at roof mounted bike racks. As I am told via youtube that they are better for long distance travel and less hassles. As you dont get dirt on the bikes or have hassles with your number plate or accidental scratches etc Secondly I have been looking at reasonable affordable ones...

Re: General Advice - Bike maintenance, DIY, educating myself etc
I ordered a pannier with bag, Panniers are bags, and come in pairs. Do you mean you have ordered a rack and pair of panniers? I also like to think I have to sign up to a service/maintenance plan e.g with halfords or a local bike shop ? It is certainly a good idea to become a regular customer at a g...

Re: General Advice - Bike maintenance, DIY, educating myself etc
For goodness sake don' t worry about any thing like a set plan. Bikes are so simple to mend on a day to day basis. Maybe try a shop for wheel truing. Not Halfords if at all possible.t. thanks a lot everyone. I had a free health check at halfords, whom I noticed oiled my gear/chain and stopped a gri...

General Advice - Bike maintenance, DIY, educating myself etc
hi guys As my earlier threads say, I am getting into biking now and want to take it serious and long distance cycling. Hence need to educate myself. I have a few questions. I ordered a pannier with bag, gps tracker, speedometer, mud guards, bells, kickstand and already have a helmet, googles, pump 1...

Re: Bought a Raleigh for £90
If you are going to ride it on the road as well as off road replacing those knobbly slow tyres with really cheap Schwalbe Land Cruisers k guards would be a good idea. Roll must easier and knobbles on the sides for a bit of bridleway riding. Al I just did a quick search and saw cheap tyres online, b...

Re: Bought a Raleigh for £90
I think we covered most of the benefits of more expensive bikes on your previous thread. Glad that you found something that does what you need second hand, far better prospect than buying yet another new heap of cheap junk from Argos etc. so you reckon this old bike, with all its wear and tear will...

Bought a Raleigh for £90

I got a bike on fb marketplace for £90 and have been riding it and surprised how good it is I thought that I have nothing to lose getting a cheap one and reselling if it doesn't work As my earlier posts, I havent ridd...

Re: Advice on GPS Trackers
thanks Guys Hi there If you go on amazon and search 'Jiadi GPS mini tracker'. There are lots of people selling this product under different names. I also tried Spytrack Nano. This is slightly bigger so harder to hide on a bike thanks, I seen a few e.g https://gear-tech.co.uk/products/mini-real-time-...

Advice on GPS Trackers
hi guys I have a gps tracker in my car which works well, it comes with an O2 sim and subscription from the manufacturers and I am happy with, however its a square shaped and does not work with bikes (It has 2 backup batteries, which lasts for about a day, I think) I am looking to get one for my bike...

Re: cheap budget bikes vs £500 + bikes
My friends dont see the rational of an expensive bike, as 2. None of us are professional riders Wrong comparison. Professional athletic riders would be on £5000 bikes, not £500 ones. lol :D Not an environmentally friendly stance! And remember Terry Pratchett's 'Boots theory of inequality' - A poor ...
