Re: Things I can do without
I went for years without a landline telephone, then for some unknown reason I thought I would get one. That was seventeen months ago. The contract runs out next month and it won't be renewed!

Re: Todays Phone Call
Had a call doing a survey about cars.
1st question; What is your opinion of cars?
My answer; Unnecessary overpriced status symbols.
That was the last question as well. They hung up!

Re: Fixing fence posts - suggestions wanted
I used to have 17 6'x6' waney lap panels with wooden gravel boards and wooden posts. They were OK for a few years but then they were in constant need of repair. I then replaced them all with concrete posts. Then instead of just one 1ft x 6ft concrete gravel boards I put 6 in each panel to make a 6ft...

They have their own government, post-office, police, armed forces, tv stations, news papers, money and passport.
How much more foreign can it get?

Re: M6 Toll Road
Slightly OT. When I went on a CTC tour in France some years ago I met a lovely man from Burnley. I mentioned that I quiet liked the Fiat 500 he replied, with his broad Lancastrian accent, you don't want one of those, its like a tarts 'andbag!

Re: Brooks saddle protection
As Above. I had my Brooks for 17years. After the tin of proofide that came with it ran out it was never replaced. I never covered it and never looked after it. It was very comfy right up till it broke, when I replaced it with another. I treat that one with exactly the same lack of care. Its just a s...

Re: CPP
I don't believe anyone has ever been mis sold CPP. (or anything else, for that matter). If people are stupid enough to sign an agreement without first reading and understanding it then who's fault is that? All that has happened is to bolster the earnings of the firms that chase these things, and put...

With this kind of blog I very rarely get beyond the first couple of days. With this one I read it all, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very amusing! Well done on completing your trip.

Re: Oh lordy, what have I let myself in for?
Just practice your walking cos you'll be doing plenty of it. There are just too many cyclists. One big jam, unless you can get away early. I only did it once, once was enough, never again!
On that encouraging note I wish you well.
P.S. A tip. Do it the week after. You'll have no probs!

2nd Feb 1970 was the date when HGV tests were introduced. I believe you had to be driving HGV's for six months continuously prior to that to claim "grandfathers rights" though I'm not exactly sure about that. I passed my HGV1 in October 1977

Re: What did you get for Father's Day?
My kids know I'm Mr Grumpy who ignores Fathers day, Mothers day, Christmas, Easter and every other milestone days. Mind you, it's taken years for them to get the message. They now leave me out of these non-events. Good!

Re: Where does your bike's live !
I live in a one bedroom flat. My three bikes live with me nice and safe indoors. No woman to tell me what I can and can't do. Love it!
