Re: Returning to cycling - new or used?

I would recommend secondhand too having been in your position a couple of months ago. I opted for a race bike I couldn’t afford new and I’m as pleased as punch with it. Good luck whichever route you choose 8)

Re: New bike time.

Is it run in yet? Like to read a progress report It is indeed run in. I’ve changed the cassette from an 11-29 12 speed, to the 11-32 ( you only get two options with the 12 speed Campagnolo super record at present ). I’ve improved the brake performance with some heat sink pads, and done a couple of ...

Re: 20c Clinchers and other musings

Hi Trigger, I hope you won’t mind me asking a novice question but I’ve read a few times on this forum about ‘use on the turbo’ and similar .... what is this turbo device please ... I’m assuming it’s something that’s popular since it’s cropped up a couple of times on my short time here :) It's short...

Re: 20c Clinchers and other musings

I've acquired another bike (Gazelle) to have a fettle with, mainly because it was only literally three streets away and it had quite a few nice classic Campy bits fitted that I plan to recycle to another bike. Whilst it's not one of their top Champion Mondial efforts it's a nice little thing with 5...

Re: Gentlemen's underwear

These may be what you’re after - I always buy these and because of the ‘elasctine’ they don’t go all baggy - very comfy. I don’t wear them for cycling though since I was told it’s expected to go ‘commando’

Re: Advice on GPS Trackers

I just bought one last week and it works perfectly - deigned specifically for bike use too and didn’t break the bank - try searching for ‘Sigma Pure GPS’.

Re: Advice please about durability of this bike

Thank you for the tips pwa, You’re the second person to advise me not to crash .... is it more likely or something ... is there something I should know  A crashed steel, alu, titanium, magnesium etc can also be rendered scrap, in some crashes these materials are not going to survive the cras...

Re: Advice please about durability of this bike

Seems complicated measuring the chain I have upgraded to fixed wheel  Care to relate about living in Bratislava, have you mastered the language? Hi Cyril, Fixed wheel appears to be too much work for my old legs  I’ve lived here in Slovakia for 17 years now, married a Slovak girl - she w...

Re: Advice please about durability of this bike

When you say 0.75% elongation - how would I measure that please ? Is there a gauge or something I should have ? The old fashioned (and accurate) way is to use a ruler. The chain rivets should be exactly 1/2" apart, and 1/8" extra over 12" (24 links) is 1% wear, or 3/32" is 0.75%...

Re: Advice please about durability of this bike

What you should know Colin is that the more you worry about crashing and damaging the bike, the more likely you are to do so! Forget about all that and enjoy the ride! That’s exactly what I did this morning rmurhy :D .... that is not think about crashing .... not crashing :D It was blowing a gale n...

Re: Advice please about durability of this bike

Thank you TheBomber, The message (and it makes sense) appears to be ‘take it easy’ and ‘listen to others with experience’ - both of which I’m happy to do .... hence my post here. Thanks again to all the people that replied - it’s appreciated :D I’m off out for a few km later today, but I’ll firstly ...

Re: Advice please about durability of this bike
