I have downloaded GPX files onto my laptop. How could I transfer these to the Garmin?

I am looking to upgrade my trusty Garmin Edge 130, to buy a 530 model. The main reason for the upgrade, is to be able to use the Garmin like a car satnav - i.e. for it to give me directions when out and about on a cycle ride. I have downloaded some GPX files for routes - does anyone know how I would transfer these onto the Garmin 530? Does anyone have any general advice about the Garmin 530?? PS I mostly ride a road bike (as opposed to mountain bike)

Hi all, I'm planning to stay in Larbert next week and I should have a couple of evenings where I will be able to go out for a ride (weather permitting). I will put my road bike in the back of the car. Does anyone have any suggestions for nice rides, 25 - 40 miles, ideally quiet(ish) roads in the area??
