Well done for demonstrating why independence is increasingly popular for the non-English countries of the uk.

out of curiosity ( and I dont know the answer) what proportion of those in Wales speak Welsh? East Anglia had its own dialects until the Londoners found it a nice place to retire to or commute from and corrupted the place

28.5% or around 850,000 Welsh speakers in Wales.I don’t really see your comparison with East Anglia though.

Re: Warning Dogs And Cows + Calves!

I was walking with a friend and his two Whippets near Magpie Mine,Sheldon, near Bakewell about three years ago and we were chased out of the field by some very aggressive cows. They came the full length of the field as soon as we entered. They weren’t curious they were really aggressive.
A couple of weeks later a lady was killed in the same field and I believe another person has been trampled a couple of fields away since then.

Re: irony of selling a plastic cap from China to highlight climate change

If it does the job and is breathable who really cares what it’s made of.I know I don’t.
It could be made from harvesting the wings of little fairies for all I care as long as it does what I paid for!
It’s hardly “plastic” really!90% of my clothing is synthetic.Why? Because it’s comfortable.I’m sure I don’t own anything that’s 100% cotton,nor would I want to.

Re: Tai-chi as a tool for growing old

Tai Chi is basically Kung Fu slowed right down with emphasis on technique and concentration.More or less.
I’ve done Martial Arts for 45 years or so and although I don’t practice traditional “Tai Chi” as such I do my own forms of slowed down Karate/Tae Kwon Do.
For me it’s similar to Yoga/Pilates.
I got into it about 30 or so years ago when doing forms(Kata) to music became popular in competitions and exhibitions. The idea was to practice kicks, punches and blocks etc really slowly to perfect the move. This looked very much like a dance.Once it was perfected you then sped it up to “normal” speed and it helped with both application and power.I can no longer do the really high kicks at slo-mo speed as muscle strength is not what it was at 20 but I am still supple enough to be able to kick well above my own height at speed and I’m in my 50s.
Like anything there’s people out there who’ll make money out of it but that’s not it what it was originally for. It’s very popular amongst the older population in the Far East.
IMO like Yoga and Pilates it can help with strength, suppleness and actual well being.

I suppose one could liken it to my version of meditation?

How many posts does it take before this stops?
This will be post no.19 for me and I still have to wait for moderator approval.Sometimes I get a notification to confirm it’s approved, sometimes I don’t!
It’s quite annoying!
New posters once approved, get an email to say so.

If you have any issues, contact the moderators.

No issues as such.Just curious how many posts it takes before I no longer need moderator approval for every post!
*edit*
Question answered!

That's a good point and i hadn't realised the forum had this restriction. Does it apply to any post you make or only new threads you're trying to start?

Any post!

Re: Froome out of Tour

No surprises really.
Froome and Thomas are not on form.Brailsford wants to win and doesn’t go for sentiment.
If Bernal starts the Tour fit he and Ineos will walk it again.Pulling out of the Dauphine is just part of the
plan.
I’d like to see a Frenchman win it but it won’t happen again this year.Ineos haven’t shown their full hand yet.JV have.

Until today I had three but just sold my Carbon bike.
So in the space of 18 months I’m down from five to two.

I don’t own a shirt or trousers let alone a suit.
I have a couple of Polo style shirts but that’s as close to a collar as I get and I rarely wear them.I have no shoes either but I do have a pair of Brogue boots that I’ve worn twice in as many years.

Intrigued. What do you wear?

If it’s warm:-T-Shirt,shorts and trainers.
If is cool:-Hoody,T-Shirt,shorts and trainers.
If it’s cold:-Hoody,T-Shirt,jeans and trainers.
Add coat to above if it’s wet/snowing.
Add Wellies to above if it’s wet/snowing and I’m walking the dog.
I have Walking Boots and Walking Trainers if I’m out in the hills.
I wear the same generally to go out for a pint or a meal.
I’ve only worn a shirt and tie once in the last 36 years and that was for my wedding.

We never left work either.
They just put up some token signage and we carried on as usual
As usual there’s a London bias behind the Govts advice.

We did it in 2004 on FS Moutain bikes.Total overkill.
If we were to do it again I’d take the Cyclicross bike.
I would think any tourer/CX/gravel/adventure bike would be just the ticket.
