Re: Why does nobody want paper maps anymore?

Hang On...I do! I have OS and Batholomews maps in plenty and use them far more often than you GPS junkies might think. I buy new ones too and have a bookcase pretty much wholly dedicated to my maps which provide hours of reading pleasure. I know that many will not believe this having been turned int...

Try OS paper maps. They work anywhere for me.

Re: Bells

I find that almost everyone reacts with a smile and a friendly greeting when I sound my ding-dong bell on approach. Locally that includes walkers, horseriders, runners, other cyclists and telephone engineers.

Re: Bicycle Bumper Sticker ?

Ten or more years ago I bought some stickers which said: "GIVE CYCLISTS ROOM!". I can't remember where they came from but maybe via CTC (moment of silence) or a cycling publication. I displayed it on my campervan and the bike and gave some to friends. Long gone now, the stickers that is. C...

Re: Ginnels, and snickets

Some of you will know Pennel's Vennel in Peebles. So named after George Pennel who ran the bike shop there for many years and the haunt of many young cyclists through the sixties, seventies and onwards.

Re: Where is this photo taken ?

Oh, dear what a to do. The property is real enough without everyone getting their knickers twisted. It is near Carsphairn in Dumfries and Galloway and a "Cottage" it clearly is not. I agree...a bit of fun has gone and developed a life of its own.

Hello, all. It's not a fake photo. This was built in the middle of an empty vista.

Re: Where,s this?

I know where it is. I am continually astonished at so called planning laws which allow such a carbuncle in this seriously under populated area. There is also a pretend Scottish towerhouse castle keep a few miles to the north which has the most amazing view as does the property in the photo. Do you w...

I don't want to be difficult but I have to assume from the foregoing posts that the AGM decision was to do away with Seniors. Funny ha ha. But I haven't heard anything from the "Club"

Re: Battery Heated Socks

Hello, I have been on meds for years and have discovered that at least two pairs of socks, one made from wool plus neoprene overshoes has solved the problem of cold feet for me during the colder months. I also don't sweat as much as I used to, which some might say is an improvement!
