Thanks for replies. Crankset is 'Forged aluminium, 2-piece, 24mm spindle, direct mount chainring' (from the bike's tech spec sheet)

Bottom bracket for Specialised Sirrus X 5.0
Hi - looking to replace the bottom bracket for my Specialised Sirrus X 5.0. On the bike's technical spec online it simply suggests 'BSA for 24mm spindle'. Grateful if anyone could provide an actual make/model I can just buy and fit. Thanks very much

Re: Shorts for touring
Got a pair of Stolen Goat gravel shorts, which are good. Corinne Dennis double comfort shorts, I use as my padded underwear, and work well with the shorts (and indeed longs) - very comfortable

Re: Touring or gravel frame?
Just back from LBS: my 2006 Dawes Ultra Galaxy now gravel-worthy (105 shifters, 2x11 GRX, Avid Shorty Ultimate brakes, Schwalbe Marathon Tour tyres). Didn't want to give up my very comfortable 853 frame, nor pay £2500. Looking forward to a first spin tomorrow

Re: Gravel bike choice
I agree with a previous posting that 'gravel' is a curious term for the UK-based cycle-tourer: we've been doing it for many years before the US staked its claim to the term. Many parts of Sustrans routes are 'gravel' (a particularly good stretch - the Forest Way - near to me in East Sussex); also ma...

Re: Handlebar bag advice
I use a Carradice Super C which is very good although dispensed quickly with the map carrier - use a Quadlock and iPhone instead to follow OS Maps online/phone data while on the move. Problem is though the bars soon become crowded with brackets aplenty. Super C is roomy and easy to take on and off v...

Re: Good iPhone Road Bike holders suggestions
I use the Quad Lock for my iPhone 8+ (decent-sized screen, and access pre-planned OS Maps routes on it can follow as if satnav). Gone now are the days of stopping at frequent intervals to turn the map over in the map case on the bar bag. Have done quite a bit of gravel and so far the Quad Lock has h...

Re: Touring or gravel frame?
I'm in the middle of rejigging my Dawes Ultra Galaxy (2006) to make it more gravel-friendly, on account of the fact that nearly all touring/day-rides I do nowadays have quite an element of 'off-road' to them (especially Sustrans routes; country lanes too now have mega-potholes). I love my 853 steel ...
