i have a Garmin Edge 800, I use Tracklogs OS mapping to create routes.
I send the route to the GPSr and just navigate!
Do not know why so many people have problems - just read the manual and have a look at the Garmin forum

I have had the 800 for over a year now.

No problems at all with the mount much better than the old eTrex one, that certainly needed a lanyard!

I use Tracklogs software mapping it interfaces with the 800 easily.

I used to have an eTrex Vista good robust machine but following the map was just following a line on a rolling map. I now have ab Edge 800 £300 if you look hard enough with OS mapping. Buy an on-screen mapping program.

Plot your route to your requirements.

Send it to your Garmin 800.

Follow the screen's pop-up, turn-by-turn prompts whilst looking at the route overlayed on OS mapping.

+1 for Tracklogs - been using it for six years now.

Used it on an Etrex but have upgraded to an Edge 800.

Lots of Audax riders and touring cyclists use them. Particularly useful with OS mapping and superb routing instructions.

I notice you have decided to avoid Taunton.
