Re: Grrrr Garmin!!!

i have a Garmin Edge 800, I use Tracklogs OS mapping to create routes.
I send the route to the GPSr and just navigate!
Do not know why so many people have problems - just read the manual and have a look at the Garmin forum

Re: Securing Edge 800 on a bike

Hi

I have had the 800 for over a year now.

No problems at all with the mount much better than the old eTrex one, that certainly needed a lanyard!

I use Tracklogs software mapping it interfaces with the 800 easily.

Re: First post: GPS for long lone bike trips? Garmin Etrex-3

I used to have an eTrex Vista good robust machine but following the map was just following a line on a rolling map. I now have ab Edge 800 £300 if you look hard enough with OS mapping. Absolutely brilliant can't fault it, pop-up, on-screen, turn-by-turn instructions - just learn how to use it. Usefu...

Re: Rob and Jon's Lejog 2010 but in Reverse - Aug 2012

Robgul's right here I am! While I was a LEJOG virgin Robgul & I spent a long time reviewing the route, based upon his & Joe's JOGLE. IMHO I think we came up with the flattest, shortest and quietest route that joined our accommodation stops. The distance was about 924 miles and I was amazed a...

Re: GPS routeplanner that avoids A Roads!?

Hi

Buy an on-screen mapping program.

Plot your route to your requirements.

Send it to your Garmin 800.

Follow the screen's pop-up, turn-by-turn prompts whilst looking at the route overlayed on OS mapping.

Feel smug!

Re: Etrex 20 / Open Cycle Map help please!

The main problem with smart phones is the waterproofing as you say

But also...

In gps mode they are very hungry in batteries.
I have doubts that my iPhone would last out in a 160K Audax event

Re: Etrex 20 / Open Cycle Map help please!

If you receive Arrivee magazine, you are most probably going to use this piece of .... kit as a navigation device. Garmins are notoriously hopeless as a navigation device and 'work rounds' have been required since their launch. The manual is VERY glib on this subject, prob due to the device being a...

Re: severn bridge

Ride on the upstream side as it is more sheltered from the light breeze that comes up the channel. Unless of course it's howling down the Channel in which case you have to lean into the wind! I can only remember a tailwind 2/3 times on the way home . We thought that until we did LEJOG and had a hea...

+1 for Tracklogs - been using it for six years now.

Used it on an Etrex but have upgraded to an Edge 800.

As for the Edge 800: that's for racers. .

For racers????

Lots of Audax riders and touring cyclists use them. Particularly useful with OS mapping and superb routing instructions.

Hi

Route not disimilar to one I did.

I notice you have decided to avoid Taunton.

It's a nice place with some good pubs and a great bike shop, not far from the station, called Ralph Coleman's - might be worth noting.

Have fun!
