Thinking Ahead

Getting cut up is a way of life as a cyclist, what's interesting about this guy is he'd made his mind to overtake long before he'd reached me.

It's good to know that despite my normal concerns as to the contrary some motorists really do think ahead!

Re: Cyclists ignoring traffic lights

Motons do it cos they are not paying attention, talking to a passenger or on the phone Should one wait till all vehicles have stopped before crossing? Trouble is, by then the lights have changed back to red I'd say they do it deliberately - otherwise why accelerate when they see the lights change? ...

Re: Why wasps are so vicious?

I don't agree with the title of this thread ...I don't think wasps are vicious .I don't bother them and mostly they don't bother me. I'm 65 this year and I have been stung by a wasp maybe 6 or 7 times, always my fault ,not paying attention... I think we need to be a bit more wasp tolerant .... They...

Re: E-bikes: depressing or what?

This thing not only enables me to adjust the level of exercise I want to adopt, Well this is a going to be obtuse again, but in one sense the bicycle is more obdurate and a hard task master - it doesn't let you adjust the level of exercise (albeit within reason, as you can have gears or get off and...

Yep, I've seen a few.
Although they could have just been adults hanging around in school uniforms with the other kids (everyone looks like a child to me these days) ;)

But kids most definitely do it.

Re: Vaping?

So how is this supposed to work? Is it meant to get the borderline folk who think "I'd give up smoking and vape instead if I could do it anywhere". How many of those are there? Vaping is cheaper (apparently). So presumably they've already got a reason to do it and so you have to assume the...

Re: Cyclists ignoring traffic lights

I very rarely see cyclists do it though it annoys me when l see cyclists slip onto the pavement, ride across the pedestrian crossing then slip back onto the road. Why? What if the junction is designed to allow you to do that? There are a couple I use for eample this one (in that view the painted bi...

Re: Cube Acid One 500 initial review - and a question...

Can't speak for the Bosch, but a couple of things I've found out on my Bafang. It's all about the wind. Doesn't matter how much assist I use, I just get to work quicker and the amount of battery left is entirely indicative of how windy it was. As mentioned above if you 'hit it hard' then when it get...

Re: Glyphosate

Anyone here eat toast or roast spuds? Whilst the risk of cancer from these is very low (and probably over hyped) the thing is studies do show a slight risk. Studies with glyphosate otoh have yet to show any risk and this despite the massive attention and numerous studies it gets. I'd be willing to b...

Re: KMC chain link came undone

Hmmm. I’ve always associated spontaneous gear changes (uusally upwards at the back) to poor adjustment on cables, or in this case I’m running non-indexed downtube levers. Indeed, what was different here is that it would change up, then change back down a few seconds later. Rinse and repeat. (Or vic...

Re: KMC chain link came undone

Funnily enough I put a new chain on Sunday and on Monday after about 10 miles the bike was changing up and down all by itself to the point where it had become unrideable. It was a Shimano chain and I'd used their split link - which is a plate with both pins on one side and a flat plate with both 'ke...
