Re: Name Change

Hujev is right it's about heritage at the end of the day, the Automobile Association wouldn't change its name to Car Club just because its more diverse would they?

Re: Name Change

Oh dear oh dear, I used to feel quite proud saying I was a CTC member, but a Cycling uk member is not the same.As pointed out earlier a major change like this should have been put to the vote.

Re: Main roads that don't allow cycling

I have cycled through Weston tunnel a couple of times until I noticed the sign when I drove through!! To me it was just an A road.

Re: Road bike that can take 25mm tyres & mudguards

Hi I bought a Trek 1.5 triple in 2010 and what great bike it's been.It has mudguard and rear rack fixing points, and I have Tortec reflector full mudguards and 25 mm tyres with no clearance problems. Cost was £800

Re: Choosing a good front (battery) light

i bought this and it lights up the whole road properly ,no more unexpected potholes! and being a uk company it makes any worries about after sales service negligible .Have a look at the whole site, seems very good and i felt the pricing to be good too.http://www.candb-seen.co.uk/bikehead-lights/xc-2400-lumen-bike-light.html

Ride with GPS

Regarding recent posts about mapping and gps software,i have been using http://ridewithgps.com/ and have found it to be very easy to plan rides and to download turn by turn info to my Garmin 705. I especially like the "straight line " button which you can use to follow minor roads which cross dual carriage ways without the software directing your line up to the nearest roundabout and back as many other mapping products seem to do (when i use them anyway!). Do any other forum members use this particular one and what do you think to it?.

Re: opinions on brazing quality please

That is really bad,it looks like all the mitreing is very poor, and if that is brazing it has not "flowed" into the joints indicating the tubing was not heated sufficiently or no flux used, signs of a rushed job.Whoever did it needs to redeem themselves pretty sharpish, good luck with complaint.
