Re: Everthing South Of Exeter

Good find. Enjoyed the video but don't really know what to make of it. The line seems worth saving.

Re: Deleting a Facebook account.

... I enjoy these forums, coming up to six years in June. Me too. But what's the average age of members on here? I bet you can count in one hand the number of regular posters under 30... Even if it's true, does it matter? I don't think so. Besides, 'oldies' are an increasing market. LOL I have neve...

Re: Deleting a Facebook account.

Like it or not Facebook (or whatever comes after it is the future) ... I'm afraid forums like this will become less relevant and eventually just inhabited by the die hards... Well, I suppose whatever comes after it is the future. I dislike Facebook because I find it too messy. As a stackoverflow us...

Very true. Off-topic, but "community" is often a figment of the imagination. And "sustainable". Media buzzwords that have lost their meaning.

Re: Everthing South Of Exeter

So if this country stopped using all fossil fuels today, when would the storms that cut this railway line stop? That's the thing in a nutshell. Each individual knows that his/her actions will affect nothing much, and that even if the whole nation took action the limited effect would take decades to...

Re: Everthing South Of Exeter

... now that some home counties have flooded, suddenly "money is no object" . When recent-CON-loss Norfolk flooded, it was left to a local MP to say that "no extra money was being made available" . When often-LD-Con-marginal Somerset flooded, it was "No extra money will be ...

That's a nice offer Keith.

Ditto. I am wondering how long it takes for a house to recover from inundation. It's hard to imagine.

Re: Everthing South Of Exeter

... The politicians need to blame anybody or anything other than themselves. They would be better finding out the real cause of these problems and coming up with proper solutions. Fat chance of this happening with this lot. It was probably the lot before who dunnit, or didn't. The point I was tryin...

Actually I got that wrong. The Environmental Agency (who Pickles is blaming) is based in Bristol. Partly wrong anyway.

Re: Everthing South Of Exeter

... Latest new is that all railways to devon and cornwall is blocked ... This doesn't affect me directly as I live on a hill in Lancashire and have no plans to travel to Devon and Cornwall in the short term but the whole thing makes me angry. Modern Britain and a main line railway falls into the se...

Re: I'm posting this here as it's important stuff..Diet etc

Vegetable oil is not as bad as engine oil ... It might be if it's brominated. It's risky looking at the labels because a third of products are mislabelled (Guardian) a herbal slimming tea that was neither herb nor tea but glucose powder laced with a withdrawn prescription drug for obesity at 13 tim...
