Re: Spare spokes
I would take a couple of spare spokes on a tour, even if you can't remove the cassette yourself, a local bike shop can do that, but may not have many spoke sizes in stock!

Re: Cycle touring shorts
I have got a pair of Boardman touring shorts , which are lightweight cargo shorts with removable padded liner. They are pretty comfortable with the liner when riding and also as general shorts without them. Good cut which doesn't ride up when cycling, unlike a pair of Endura ones I used to have and ...

Re: Cycling glasses
I use disposable contact lenses for cycling, so can then use ordinary cycling glasses. Only worth it for longer runs though!

Re: Endurance Bike? Too much choice!
LBS is getting Cube Attain GTC in soon, will try one for size and they have offered me a discount. Not sure which of their sizes will fit as the shop owner says they come up small.

Re: Indoor bike trainer
You have discounted direct drive trainers, not sure why as these are used with the back wheel removed? Obviously more expensive overall.

Pompetamine Alfine 11
I have just cleaned up and refurbished my Alfine 11 bike and now thinking of selling it as I don't commute any more and it isn't getting used. It is in pretty good used condition and almost all original and has a front hub dynamo. My problem is that I have no idea what it is worth, does anyone have ...

Re: Benefits of painted cycle lanes?
There are quite a few of these in Edinburgh, which actually work fine, apart from areas where cars are allowed to park in them, which means they are then worse than no lanes! You wonder why they paint them in but don't make them no parking!

Re: Chilblains Feet Toe
That looks like paronychia, fungal nail bed infection, probably needs an antifungal and bacterial cream from the GP to clear it up. I get it occasionally, can be slow to go away even with treatment.

Re: Endurance Bike? Too much choice!
Thanks for the replies, still deciding! The reason I want it about 9kg is that is a similar weight to my current bike , I live in a pretty hilly area and my riding buddy is already much quicker up the hills than me!

Re: Hedge Clipping
Cycled along a local country road last week to find we were following the tractor cutting the hedges, he had to pull over to let us past, but amazingly no punctures!
